For the first time, maybe the last time i have ever said it "Damn You Games Workshop!". Reason being, is that i entered in something called the artificer's painting competion, entered ahead of time ( 1 week before the deadline, and no one told me the 3 days imbetween that day and yesterday ), then end up being pushed up to the non youngbloods division for this reason " Your painting is not what we expect for youngbloods, it's to good." Dam it, 4th place in the 40k squad division doesnt make up for a number 1 spot in young bloods, plus only 1,2 and 3 get trophies, AND on top of that there were gonig to be pictures in WD, yes WD, I could have been in CWD! but no, my painting is to good for youngbloods, and im only 13, now my last trial for youngbloods is next when im 14 and that will be the last time i get to enter, and after that ill probably get pushed up to the 40k squad again! And what they had to say is to enter into golden demon, they wont push me up there, but guess what im not good enough for that either. And freehanding a CF symbol on a friggin flag, modelling a plasma gunner to flip the bird does not mean that im to good of a painter!
Arghh... sorry all just needed to vent.
Was it Ash who forced that? Sounds like something he would do. What an jerk.
edit: Oh your home store is in Scarlem? Was it Carl?
If that is the first time you've ever thought, felt or said: "Damn you GW", then you surely do deserve to be in the Young Bloods
Seriously though, that is not cool. Nothing much you can do about it really, but if you're entering againt next time, try and enter on the last day, and stay with your mini as much as possible, so they have to ask you if they want to do it again...
Also, get some pics up in painting, dagnabit

Alright ill try to get pics up, Oh it wasnt ash, hje used to mange scarbrough for a month or two now scott runs it here. It was scott that decided to bump me up. Oh and karl isn't the manager he is the ass. man. =P
Hehe, ass. man.
Seriously though, that really does suck. I find that to be slightly lame just because of painting skills. Isn't the point to encourage awesome painting skills for the age instead of grouping them by painting skill.
Although I would take it as a compliement to your painting skills that they think you can compete against adults who have been painting for years. Congratulations either way.
Ask me something about Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.
Thats kind of wrong for them up bump you up agaisnt your wishs. Even if you are good, its kind of liek school really, you pick two classes your good or you want to try out for fun but they give you the ones you suck at or the ones you don't want to try for.
But yeah, take it as a compliment like the above has said. Atleast they think your painting is better then youngbloods, think they might be trying to do you justice for your skills in a way or there sugaring the pill for the younger ones who aren't so good as you.
yeah, i guess... ill pick up my squad this sat and ill get up pics. . . but still i cant get over the fact that i could of been in WD! =(
Then the quality of WD would decrease even further! They must have relaised that.
That squad must have been awsome if they bumped you up because of your elite skills. Get pics up! We demand it!
Although I sympathise greatly on you losing out on a probable First in the Youngbloods and a possible picture in White Dwarf, I believe I know why the store did it.
With figures as well painted as yours (any chance of a photo by the way?) the store cannot guarentee that the young painter did not have 'adult help', i.e. Dad or an older brother painted the hard stuff like the banners and faces. Unfortunately people do cheat, and there is no way of telling this if a youngster comes into the store and says 'its all my own work'.
And they won't risk the competition looking as if it has been won by a possible cheat, people have pre-conceived expectations of what a youngsters mini 'should' look like and if yours is a lot better then even the GW employees are going to have a hard time convincing onlookers that it is the work of a 13-year-old.
One way around this (for next year) is to spend a few hours actually at the shop, painting a figure or two to a high standard. That way the GW employees will see that you are competent and will be happier about having your fig in the Youngbloods competition.
Ryan Dancey, Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, believed that TSR failed because of "...a near total inability to listen to its customers, hear what they were saying, and make changes to make those customers happy." Are you listening, Games Workshop ?
