Hey everyone name's ...Rending?, I play Eldar and Chaos. Chaos is my first army and favorite army however. This particular thread is either to vent or offer advice.
So, however many of you have or are having problems getting your army done? Has it taken a long time or do you have like that remaining squad you just can't bring yourself to finish? Are they not base and you haven't gotten around to them? Or for the more tedious painter, have you not gotten around to doing your detail work?
All I know is it has been three years and I am not finished and I have Eldar AND Space Marines sitting on the shelf waiting. I just based/rebased (make it look better) 90 percent of my army, i got one squad left to paint up (black legion), and still, I have 3 oblits and to assault raptors to paint. Just never ends. On top of all that I want to start a Wood Elves army! Am I addicted?
Throw me your views, your armies, hopes, dreams, and yes frustrations.
I think you're suffering from white dwarf syndrome..
GW constantly hawks and pushes its products at its small market (us) and inevitably we end up wanting everything. The best thing to do in my opinion is to grit your teeth and struggle through one army for as long as you can, maybe take a break and paint something else, come back and struggle again.
If you're painting to too high a standard, you might want to try lowering a bit.. It's something I'm really guilty of myself, but meh.. I've resigned myself to things taking a long time, as long as they look good by the end.
Just remember, a wood elves army isn't going to make or break your life.. I'd try and finish your current armies to a decent level before moving on.
Right place for this?
In 7 years i've had 6 armies, mordheim warbands and a heckuva lot of LOTR stuff. Most have all been fully bought and stuff just lots of stuff not painted. I dunno why but getting the last few models painted is damn hard for me to do... i can get most... just not the last few. overall pretty bad for 7 frickin years like
Then theres the high elves... way to much white for me to handle.

After 2.5 years, I've got around 60% of all the models bought and painted. Ideally, this army is around 6000 points, but not exactly an army, rather, just all of the units that I would at some time or another field in a game.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
My worldeaters are about 80% finished , I still have a squad of demons and some tanks left to topcoat. I kinda need to be inspirered to paint and I will admit I get lazy. It helps to have a set place to paint.
I started my WEs about 4 years ago but only got serious with them like 15 months ago. My biggest problem is that there are anumber of units I just don't use anymore that did need to be painted. I have a landraider and dreadnaught that are 100% done but never get any play time because they really don't fit my playstlye. Not to mention the several wisiwig charater models that are now in a bits box because I just don't need them any more. I think the biggest impediment to painting the whole army is a unifiyed them wich takes awhile and deciding on what units you should concentrate on.

Well, ive felt the wood elf bug too, and i got my Wood Elves all painted up. I still need to paint some extras to make a 3k army, like warhawks, and glade riders, but meh it will happen eventually...it took about maybe 8-9 months, but it wasnt a very strenous painting time limit. Now i have a 1500pt. Guard army to paint up, its just i dont want to paint that many soldiers , i have to think before i go "Oh look that army has tanks!" Oh well, and now i want to get some chaos or empire, not sure yet......

I started warhammer 4 years ago and my first army was death guard. I still have plague marine units tht are only based in that army, because in the middle of painting my DG I started dark eldar, then in the middle of collecting them i started tyranids, then i started emperor's children. hehe, for me its just an ongoing cycle of laziness and procrastination.
Well, I have a good story.
I started playing about 4 years ago, bought models for eldar using the wraithguard craftworld. After playing with unpainted models for a few months I decide this army doesnt fit my style, they go into a box and I remove the bases. I play with friends for the next 3+ years with mostly just bases. Now in march I'm due at a turny so I finaly bought models for my army. And now the painting starts.
So thats ~4 years and just now got all the models.... And the turny is only 1000 pts of my 2000pts... we'll see if I can manage to finish painting the rest after the turny.
And, this is my first turny, the group I'm going with plans on loosing but having alot of fun doing it. Three cheers for excaping wives/girlfriends for a weekend of WH40K! :w00t:
Well, since October I've done about 1000pts of High Elves, so not bad going. I'm quite proud of the standard they're painted too as well. Obviously not as good as a lot of members but still, I'm happy. I would post them in the painting forum if I had a digital camera, but I don't so you cant see them. The problem is that I want to get them to 2000, but I'm already eyeing up Orcs & Goblins. I need to resist, at least until the elves are done. Must resist. Resist....
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

hahahaha this is really funny that this topic should come up now becuses i am curantly painting my very last modle for my 3200 point Guard Army that I have been working on for just over a year.
If you do things right people wont be sure if you have done anything at all.
