Some other list (AC, Speed freaks, something I forgot)
Looking at it all everyone is equal....
Oops can't forget Chaos SM
I was just reading some post and thought I'd poll what people thought was the Most Powerful/powergamable codex out right now. I thought eldar initially but Chaos Dex with the Siren Prince is pretty crazy. What do you guys think.
Chaos can be miserable to play in a couple different ways- a cheese'd out Iron warriors list or a slannesh daemonette list with tooled up demon prince with (?) siren (the thing that won't let you shoot him etc)>
For powergaming potential nothing comes to mind like the totally offensive army of Dark Eldar. Its a list which can be awfully abused with the massive amounts of attacks on characters, abilities to always wound on 4's with power weapons, ignoring saves, and combat drugs. The the army packs a lot of AP3 weapons at good str's almost always needing less than a 4 to wound. Its vehicles are fast, models can fleet, and have high WS and I. If you want offense and to put your eggs into a basket this armies for you!
That being said i'll actually counter my own post with the idea that the majority of your army is str 3 toughness 3, has a non existent armor save, horrible armor on vehicles, specific troops, and a str 3 regular gun on warriors. While these are the negatives the ability to power game with DE is incredible and the str's severely outway the weaknesses
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
I think Eldrad, Grav Falcons, Harlies, and the Avatar all offer huge bang (or durability) for the points you spend on them. Toss them all into a list with other good eldar units and you have a very hard list to beat. You can make many varients on this list too. The one I tend to see uses Eldrad, Harlies, the Avatar, and two shooty wraithlords backed up with warwakers, dire avengers and warp spiders to toss a huge amount of high str shorts down the board, or maul you in assault if you approach while getting doomed and mind warred.
Really even though I voted for Eldar, I'm not sure any one codex is a powergaming codex, it tends to be specific units, or unit combinations that make silly lists, for isntance the Siren Lord that was mentioned, or a SM list oozing with assault cannons. A powergaming player can usualy find something in a codex to abuse.
I know some people do not like to conform but everyone knows that no other codex gives you as much powergaming ability as Chaos. Also the Dark Eldar in my opinion are a one hit wonder. The first time you see one, or one of the different types you underestimate and get spanked but if you continue to play the same people, especially veterans they get insanely easier, they are very frail. Also I believe the guy who chose that everything is equal hit that button accidentally or did it as a joke, I got a good little laugh.
Lost and the Damned can take any non-heavy-support Chaos unit, can take Defilers, can take Guard tanks, and Mutants; which have t4 and 2 attacks for six points apiece. Nasty.
I mean, they get everything CSM do, and more!
If you think Mathammer doesn't work and dice cannot be predicted, there's a whole field of mathematics called probability that would like to disagree.
Most of the armies in 40k can be cheesed up to a sick level. IG drop plasma, FotD drop pods, Iron warriors, noise marines, Eldar, etc etc. Even nidzilla lists are far from friendly.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
This is true for most cheesy lists, they all have huge weaknesses, which are pretty difficult to spot the first time round, but if you catch them, then its not difficult to counter them. The best lists are the ones that can function in serveral differant ways depending on terrain and opponent, that way, you ALWAYS have the element of surprise.

Depends whehter you factor in ease of use or ease of making powerful lists.
However DE clearly stand out along with chaos.
Chaos simply because the codex is a shambles and needs some proof reading.
DE because they can (and do) annihilate armies inside of 3/4 turns, even versus good opponents. The sheer damage potential for cost is obscene (like 10 point dark lances and 5 pt disintegrators).
They also have the fastest units in the game hands down.
When wyches get the 12" assault on their combat drugs you simply can't hide.
I went with necrons, as the spiral makes game very hard. The spiral is when the play maxes out on warriors, then makes a spiral/swirl around the necron lord with res orb. It slowly marches up, you can't pick out the lord, and there are huge chances of them just getting back up.
Plus you can squeeze a Nightbringer and Monolith into games with tiny points limit.
