I bought a box of Dark Angels Veterans yesterday, and noticed that the plastic is much darker than the previous boxes of plastics before it.
Is GW experimenting with a new, maybe less expensive plastic?
Maybe, I did get quite a bit of plastic bits for twenty dollars. I'd have expected them to cost more...
it aint uncommon for GW plastics to be a different hue, a brief look in my bits box tells me that, so cant honestly tell you, generally though they will tout a proper change in plastic with "this is going to be wanderfull" in white dwarf
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I just assumed it was part of their new process for more detailed plastics and sprues with more bits on them. I noticed it with the new DA plastics too, though I haven't marked any loss of quality (mould lines, flash, flimsy plastic, etc.)
Didn't mean to imply that you were complaining, I was just kind of surprised. As we all know, new does not always equal better or even good.
Adrian is right about the plastic though - I've seen slightly varying hues from time to time, but these are noticeably different. Wonder what the story is.
This is probably just down to different batches or a different mix or a different plastic supplier
as a few of you said G.W would definately bang on about it in white dwarf and then put the price up.
Yeah, I've noticed a few different types of plastics as well. Its probably just GW's suppliers have provided a different colour or something.
Unless anyone notices a drastic increase in quality of details or something like that, unfortunately I don't think that it would be a change.
We can always hope though!
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
In the LOTR range the goblins and such are a far darker plastic than the mordor orcs. And the mordor orcs have terrible models whereas the moria goblins are quite decent.
