does anyone else suffer from being unfaithful.....
to their warhammer / 40k projects that is !
I have bought a entire 'nid army ( around 1700pts ) costing around £130
so far i have build all but my hive tyrant ( i was waiting for his mail order wings
which came yesterday) all i have to do now is paint.
And guess what?
i think im losing interest already.
I keeping thinking how my little monsters are going to rip some space marines a new A hole,
but now all i keep thinking about is how i would design a anti tyranid space marine army !
if that wasnt bad enough i still a 600pt Tau army which is in bad need of reinforcements
yet the thought of painting purple and sliver again is just to much.
Am i alone on this?
or do others out there suffer from the same problem?
i do... whenever i actually start an army some months will have gone by and i will have started to lose interest in said army... my warhammercareer is one littered with have finished and unsstarted projects i'm afraid!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

It happens to me. Like i made a DIY chapter and then I said, "God damn it, I should have done imperial fists" So now i painted all the unpainted models yellow:x.
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
Yeah, it happens to me. But I mostly finish projects/models. I sometimes don't finish up a decent army. I've got a lot of stuff here and there, pretty much complete crap to play as a whole. So now I pretty much think about a line to draw... this much points, this is what I want, and that's all I need now.
I once wanted to start up an entire Dark angels company... got until half of it, but I lost interest in it. So, now I have a half painted Land raider around, a half finished rhino with extra armor, a direct only techmarine and some other random models. And now... now I'm doing Plague marines. I must admit though, a lot of my DA models came from my first army, an Ultramarines army when I started about 1,5 year ago.
Last year I picked up 2 boxes of Dark eldar, supposedly to start a DE force. Had painted up about 20. Lost interest, got into Chaos. Last month I re-painted a bunch of DE to take a break of my DA.
Best advice I could give it to leave stuff to rest from time to time. Buy another model you like, or look into combat patrol armies as they require less points and a nice break of painting your current army. You could paint up a Tyranid Patrol & a Marine patrol. I think the main risk of getting a lot of points for a sum on money is pretty much the interest thing.
For a break of my Plague marines, I'm thinking of starting up a 400 point combat patrol Blood angels army. I might even sometime start a Tau patrol, but mainly for breaks. Though spending money on models you might eventually use would be a bit wiser. So take a nice Marine commander and paint him up for your marine army. Then do a bit of your tyranid. Exchange... makes it less boring.
Well, considering what I just read it makes sense but pretty much not in a following, logical sense... but make of it what you will
I happened with me on my IG. After building 150 conscripts in 5 days I didnt want to pick up another figure. Thats where cheap labor comes in play.

I'm not unlike you with one exception. I don't see it as a bad thing
I have like half a dozen armies in various stages and more projects then I care to remember. Not one of those are completely finished.
Sure it might feel a bit awkward from time to time, when the disorganisation is overwhelming but I can't imagine finishing one thing before I begin with the next. Now I always have something I really want to paint or convert and they are all vastly different.
I have Steel Legions if I want to paint fast, I have Tanks if I'm in that mood, Daemons, Daemon Princes, CSM a SM army, scenery and conversions all demanding varying level of effort.
It is a great feeling to be finished with something of course, but I don't think it beats the feeling of actually painting or converting....did I mention the thrill of collecting/buying/planning to buy models?
My interest comes and goes. My 7 Terminators took about four hours each to get just right, and I've been burned out ever since on Chaos.
Things I do to get re-interested are to vary the models I paint (4 grunts, 4 specialists, 4 grunts, 1 Rhino, 4 grunts...),get new music to listen to, do a crazy conversion to see if it works, or (especially) find someone to have a painting party with.

exactly the same just happened to me the other day, 1 model off finishing my 2nd black templar crusader squad, saw the orc warboss model thought id buy it to give me a break, really enjoyed painting it and now i cant stand the thought of painting another load of black SM....and i have another 2 squads of 20, HQ, LRCs, termis all sat waiting O M G!
Oh and if your interested, here are my projects:
Imperial Guard: (1750) <- about half painted
Space Marines: (1000) <- all painted, but planning on adding another 1000 pts
Tyranids: (1800) <- about 10% painted
Eldar: (2000) <- 1 model painted
Tau: (1250) <- about half painted, planning on another 500 pts
Choas - Word Bearers: (1550) <- Still trying to figure our a *good* paint scheme
Wood Elves: (2250) <- about 75%, trying to get these guys tounie leagal... also want another 200 pts
Lizard Men: (1400) <- not a single man/ lizard, looking to add another 600 pts
Necromunda: 3 gangers, but have already made the bases for another 11. Current focus.
So you're not alone... you're in good company actually :w00t:
I am the same way, I will buy something and then move onto something else completely. For instance, I have a 500 point Beastmen army in the closet just waiting for me to start it and I have incomplete Space Wolves, Ork, and Lizardmen armies. :hmm:
