Is a Rhino or CHimaera better stat/weapon/pointworth wise? I think the RHino is better lookswise, otherwise i wouldn't know, i haven't played the game yet.
I'm going to do this without breaking copyright...
Basically speaking, The Chimera is superior in every way except for one. It has better weapons, better front armor, and trasnports more models (and even Terminators and Ogryns, something the Rhino can't do.) The only way the Rhino is better is in price, both the model is cheaper to buy, and is cheaper points-wise.
But of course, you can't forget about the Blood Angel's Overcharged Rhino Engines. But that's a pretty special case.
There you have it. Hope I helped.
Wow, that was the fastest reply to one of my threads i have ever had in a forum! :o
THanks for the info. Is it possible to use a chimaera in the space marines? They are all humans and on the same side after all...
Also, one more thing, if the Space Marines are supposed to be superior to the imperial guard, then why is the RHino weaker?
One last thing. DO you think the Razorback is worth it? I don't think so, because if i really want a tank i would get a predator and the reduced transportation ability just sucks. Wonder how they fit 10 guys, can't even fit one ;they too tall. :o
Nope, Chimeras are for Guard and Inquisitional Armies. None for Marines.
That's a good question. Why do Marines get the "weaker" transport? My guess is because they are cheaper for the Forge Worlds to make or something. Oh, and The Imperial Guads is much better than Index Astartes .
I personally like the Razorback. The way I see it, there are two kinds of transports, the kind that transport and do nothing else, and the kind that can do something after they deliver the troops. The Razorback is the second kind. I think they are very useful, as they can carry quite nice weapons.
The rhino is not "weaker", it is the best APC in the game. It is important to make a clear distinction here, the Rhion is a APC (armoured personell carrier), whil the chimera is an IFV (infantry fighting veichle). The chimera has a lot of firepower, has mobility,, and serves mainly as a mobile firebase (including the squad inside). The rhino is a transport, nothing more, it CARRIES the firebase around, and has very few functions beside transportation. Yes, the chimera is better than the rhino, but that's because a rhino isn't designed to support an infantry advance. Also, the chimera is twice the poits of a rhino, and you can generally have more rhinos than chimeras, plus the new rhino models are awesome. The SMs don't come out worse in this deal.
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel allright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace, and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
Goblin kroozade of revengyness: win:19 draw:10 loss:9
Razorback is better to the fact that is can be loaded with stronger and better weapons than the Chimera or Rino, but at the price of carrying less models.
If Wolves were meant to fly, wouldn’t the Emperor have given them wings?
Which I am going to probably get
I am going to get a Space Marine army. THey are one of the three i'm seriously interested in out of tau and imp guard. Tau units are hard to paint, and imp guard has too much hard to paint infantries. I like Necrons, but not enough variety. I also liked tyranids, but they are too hard to paint in a good way. I also liked Chaos, but theres too much mutations and stuff. Yuck. So i'm going with space marines. I so far have a rhino and a five man combat squad from the starter paitn set, the cruddy old ones with no pose variety. THose aren't gonna be in the army, just as display pieces to see my first few minis. I want to have 10 marines being transported around. My plan is to buy two more tactical squads, maybe some SM vehicles for fun, because they are so cool. THen i will get a command squad and i can actually use my army! Woohooo!!! Anywy, i just wanted to know the merits of the transports. What's the best transport in all of WH40k, in your opinion? Monoliths don't count, those are heavy support  .
Hmmmm...I would say Rhino too but just for transport because for some heavy support it's not the best...
My only problem with the Chimera is who are the Imperial Guard players going to transport to the front line? Ogryns I can understand but if you dont have a lot of them they're going to get overwhelmed in a hurry. To win in hand to hand - the general rule is that IG have to overwhelm their enemy, a transport that can carry 10 mediocre stats guardsmen isnt going to be able to do that.
The best use I can think of for a Chimera is to drive a few Ogryns to the frontline and have them start smashing things while the Chimera hangs around to give some support. This could buy you some time to get off a few more Bassie shots and distract your opponent... too bad ogryns cost an arm and a leg...15 bucks a pop... <_<
