There is also another problem for players who are loyal to a pure-GK army, anti-tank power. What is your answer to the GK's anti-tank? Hellfire Dreadnought? That's 145 pts for the Las/Missile extra armour dreadnought. Two of those Hellfire Dread would cost you 290pts for 2 Twin-linked Lascannons, whereas two land raiders would cost 500pts for 4 twinlinked lascannons, and the abilities to carry your troop-choice GKs to the frontline.

The two-landraiders-GK-rush isnt an unusual list, but it's as risky as to a foot-slogging GK army. Fast moving and high mobility army such as Eldar and Tau will just dance around such an army all game and avoid combat with ease. While two Land Raiders do drastically reduce the amount of GK marines you can have on the table, but it also guarantee a second turn charge should the land raider survive its first turn by smart manuever and positioning. 500pts of Land Raiders equals to two extra 9-men GK marines squads with Justicar, but they will also have to spend 4 turns of walking to get into combat against most static army.. and god knows how many marines you're going to lose in that 4-turns of shooting.

If you ask me if I would take the risk of running 2 land raiders loaded with Gk marines inside, I would tell you a definite YES.. but it will be backed up by teleporting attacks of everything else in my army.. fast attack GK, teleport Termies, etc. I am under the impression that a pure GK army will lack the ability to fight an attrition war, anything that goes lightning fast in-and-out will be my style of playing my GK!

There was a thread a while back that showed a method of playing that was extremely effective just using a GK HQ, 2x PAGK's and yep, 2 Landraiders. I don't have two landraiders yet but I can't wait to test it out. It basically involves finding ways to wear the enemy down so there strengths become ineffective. I think it's been on this forum before but if not then you can check it out again here

and yes, it showed a method of using just the above units to destroy a fast moving Eldar squad (as well as a genestealer army). I think it's great because it shows just how versitile a pure GK army is and I believe it will have the naysayers pondering for a while.
