thinking of starting HE with this army list

ok, so i already have 2250 pts worth of Wood Elves, and Dark elves, and i would like to go to the HE, and make my elf set compelte. i dont know how much anything from the new rules cost, but i would like to make this army

i really want to make a pheonix guard army, im willing to drop the bolt throwers and just get 400 pts worth of pheonix guard more, just to make it fun.

aah the first of many new HE players.
Well you're idea for a list sounds interesting.

the idea for a PG list is a very good one and a cool one. And you are doing a good job at it.
My suggetsions:

I would though include either some shadow warriors, Reavers or eagles. This for the usual blocking, mage hunting and charge redirecting. Always handy.

Okay next point. Don't use units of 16 archers.
Use HE archers like Glade Guard (i play woodies besides HE) get a unit of 10 maybe 12. Not more. And you might want add a musician just in case, that is if you have the points.

Then maybe add some other cav. This mainly to counter enemy cav. Though you're PG will probably survive a charge, it is better to prevent it.

Really like the idea for the list, am pretty tempted to do something similar myself. Particularly with the shadow and death spells to make phoenix gaurd cause terror.

Probably change these to 3 units of 10 and 12, can shoot more targets or same arrows, loose less to ranks possibly too.

Definitely need at least 1 eagle, even if other 3 bolt throwers are swapped out for 20 more phoenix gaurd, or some chariots (the horse kind) for tempting warmachines.

really like the idea of gathering the elven armies

im building my he army based on the army of saphery and hoeth, but have never thought of a phoenix guard list before

your list looks fine but (surprise!) dont field your archers like that
i would have used 2 units of 10 instead leaving you some points to spare
maybe to invest them in an eagle or some silver helms

anyway, i quite lie your ideas
