I think I have found a GW store relatively close to me, which I will be going to check out next week or so, so I might get back into playing on a regular basis, thus I want to get a force painted up. I have lots and lots of high elf models, few are painted.
So here is a 1500 point list I was thinking about starting with.
Before I start, the Dragon Mage is there, well, because I like him, like the dragon, like the lore of fire, like the extra dice he gets, if he doesnt work out in play i'll change him out, ut for now, I want to leave him in. Thanks
Dragon mage- 410
-Jewel of the Dusk
-Amulet of Protection
20 Spearmen- 205
15 Swordmasters- 255
6 Dragon princes- 230
I'm not sure what I want this force to do, I wrote it up in my head and just came here, heh.
The eagle will harass war machine crews, the chariots can combine charge with the dragon princes.
The swordmasters, spearmen, and footed mage can advance together, casting spells and hopefully getting involved with one unit.
And the dragon mage can fly over, cause terror tests, and then rear-charge a unit, hopefully getting off his flaming sword.
The Dmage will get 3 spells, with his bonus die, he can cast 2 of them with 2 dice, and the sword with 3. Which leaves my mage on foot 2 die, plus his free one, so he can cast one spell with 3, be it shield of saphery, drain magic, or any other high spell I have gotten.
I was thinking, about ditching the Dragon princes, getting another unit of spearmen, ditching a chariot and getting another eagle.
Or leave the dragon princes, ditch one chariot, let the other stay with the DPs, and use the points to buy another eagle to harass lone mages or war machine crew, and with the leftover 35 points, I could, I dont know, give the swordmasters 2 more models to absorb shooting casualties?
No Points costs of units without upgrades please - GN

if you protect the Swordmasters with magic, using the dragon and eagles to harrass shooty stuff you dont need to add more for shooting cas. you may loose the eagles and mage but they will make way for the devastating chop suey of the greatswords. You could drop the dragon princes for a larer unit of Silver Helms or keep them and use them as a flanker for your spears and swords. I would also look at upgrading spears to Lotheren Sea guard to add some shooting to the army since you have no repeater bolt throwers. i say keep both chariots - 18 inch charge hellYEA!
This is just my opinion btw
i also love the dragon mage too and im a sucker for the model! let us know how it ensues in battle!
A suggestion you could drop the chariots and get 6 more dragon princes with a musician and still have 10 pts to spare, then use the two dragon princes units in combination in front and flank charges. charriots tend to suffer from any missile fire. The sheer intimidation factor of two units dragon princes cannot be underestimated, plus they can either hit your opponet ealry and therby tie up some of his units or draw fire giving you elite infantry a better chance of getting to the enemy
Sorry that should read 5 more dragon princes not six but the principals the same
chariots don't do much for me(they die too easy), but Repeater Bolt throwers and the Dragon princes are great. I'm not sure you need the DP champ, unless you're going to give them a special item (gem of courage, amulet of fire, etc) otherwise, maybe add the warbanner (a sure +1 is better than an extra attack) Something to redirect or help hunt warmachines would also be great (reavers or the eagle, I like RBT's better, but it's up to you)
