tiranoc chariots x 2 - ? pts each
RBT x 2 - ? pts each
total pts = 2005 pts! (i know im 5 over but ill cut it down some how...)
Basically use the dragon mage to cause havoc. if the opposing player doesnt deal with it then it has to face the dragon princes, Pheonix guard and chariots and flanks from the reavers, chariots and spear elves. i would typically shoot ahead with the dragon, chariots and reavers, march-blocking and baiting, in the hope there are too many targets for them to aim for. if you want to take out one of the hard hitters (DM, DP, PG or even the chariots), you need to concentrate heavy fire and that leaves the rest of them to charge and pile up. RBT and archers provide a diversion target (if they go for the archers i couldnt care, its them not picking targets properly!) and the RBT's are a standard source of HE fire.
The main idea with this list is assault. i am an aggressive player so any advice can be directed to helping it become more aggressive or more refined in its aggressiveness.
what do you guys think?
I don't like the Dragonhorn, I don't think you'll need to use it that often and a plain bsb would be better imo. I would add the silver wand to the dragon mage (with3 spells, you have a chance of getting one you like) Banner of sorcery would help as well. If you know you're going to put your mage in the phoenix guard, then drop one of them.
You say this is an aggressive list, but you have Phoenix guard (the most defensive unit in the game) and 2 RBTs. I see several parts of your army getting left behind the other half (DM,DP,ER) and leaving you stranded. I personally think that 6 DP by themselves is just as good as with a noble, the only thing the noble adds is str6 and 1 attack. he may want to drop his steed, add a bsb and sit back with the phoenix guard or spearmen (w/ grt wpn of course) since they can't hit strong. That's just my opinion. Is this for against a certain army or just anyone?
i had no army in mind... but now that you mention it i mainly verse orcs and goblins (green skinned obsessed friends... bunches of rabble...) so psycologically i might have tailored it to them. that combined with my love for the PG models i probrably couldnt resist throwing them in over SM
now that i look at it a BSB would be better and giving him the banner of scorcery. and i didnt think of the silver wand *smacks head* so stupid...
what about trading the PG in for swordmasters and giving them the BSB and mage? casting Shield of Saphery and when in combat using the courage of anerion... ill update the list soon. and the bolts i could trade for eagles and a unit of Shadow warriors possibly
It's no big deal, they just don't seem aggressive to me. I like to play a balanced list, so I have a bit of everything. I've got PG models too (haven't used them yet, and would love someone to give me abreakdown of how they do) but I think of them almost being stubborn. They shouldn't lose but 1 or 2 on the charge, and maybe kill 1 or 2, with 2 ranks and warbanner, they'll tie or win by 1 and let my flanking unit of spearmen or White lions come in and snake the flank for the win. That's what I'm hoping they'll do anyway.
Swordmasters would be much more aggressive. I think you need the banner of sorcery in there so that your 2 lvl2 can cast all their spells that they know. (DM - Sword of Rhuin, Burning head or fiery blast would be good, Lvl2 - xx spell, shield of saphery and drain magic)
If you do use the PG, watch out for mage killers. any multi wound model could still sneak in, survive and chop down your mage. He might be more protected in a spearman unit (keep the champion next to him to challenge single character hunters) I might put your bsb in with the PG and keep the mage with the spearmen.
