Soon I'll play against my friend with his wood elves.
It will be a 3000 point battle so this is what I was thinking of:
sword of hoeth
armour of caledor
Archmage Arion (level 4)
ring of fury
Xillion (noble) BSB
shield/ dragon armour/ barded horse (he'll go with the dragon princes)
Finreir (level 2 mage)
1 dispel scroll
jewel of dusk
3 x 10 archers
all 3 with musicians
9 dragon princes
20 phoenix guard
20 sword masters
banner of elliryon
20 white lions
banner of sorcery
3 bolt throwers
please tell me what you think of it.
I want to know where you are putting your characters, what kind of list your opponent are fielding if you know and what lores you are using.
5000p. High Elves
tanks for your comments. I'm going to change my lord Elurian. Arion is going to use High magic and Finreir lore of life. I was thinking of putting Xillion in that unit of dragon prices because that unit will together with Xillion face a unit of wild riders joinded by Orion. About the Sword masters: yes I know it is trickey but if I can get them in combat and protect them with shield of saphery they should do their job.
Those white lions are going to start behind a wood get trough it, make sure it's clean from ennemy scouts or whatever he puts in it and them move up to his "gunline" consisting of probably 40 glade guard. That why i need 20, to have enough combat resolution because of their ranks to compensate their 'low' amount of attacks.
I'm not sure what I 'm going to play, probably move up all my combat units and leave my archers and bolt throwers their where they start. I actually don't know what I could else.
I actually think that you could use some shadow warriors, there should be plenty of terrain and they can get amongst his glade gaurd and do a good amount of damage with their high weapon skill and hatred (unless the 1 unit has 40 guys in it not 4 units of 10).
I also think that you should put the banner of Ellyrion on the Dragon Princes, You will have a hard enough job pinning down his wild riders even with the banner, that does make protecting the Sword masters an issue though, but the pressure applied by the White lions and Shadow warriors might be enough.
Good Luck either way
