Welcome to Librarium Online!
Entering a 2 on 2, 2000 point each(4000 per side total) tournament in a week. My partner is playing VCs, who fields mostly core, I believe he has 12 power dice in his list, also 2 corpse carts, which he takes the -1 to cast on each. Anyway here is my list.
10 X Archers
10 X Archers
215 - 5 X Dragon Princes, FC, Banner of Ellyrion
135 - 7 X Sword Masters, FC
135 - 7 X Sword Masters, FC
265 - 13 X White Lions, FC, Lion Standard, Amulet of Light(Korhil makes 14)
212 - 10 X Phoenix Guard, Standard, Banner of Sorcery
2 X Bolt Throwers
Total = 1997
I try to field as little amount of core as i can usually, going with 10 archers instead of a block of spears opens up points for some more sword masters. One thing im thinking of doing though is dropping one of the SM units and just doing 1 unit of 5X2, then perhaps find some points and put in an extra 5 Phoenix Guard. I'm a little worried of running that big of a unit of Phoenix Guard without a hero however. When I put a hero in with them i find they are extremely successful, but other times without have been very bad.
One solution to the PG problem is perhaps I could shove Korhil in with them and just run 14 White Lions without a hero. That unit has been VERY good to me so far, but i always use Korhil with them. So far I've never lost a fight with that unit.
As far as magic goes, I love Teclis, however since this is a 2 on 2 game I am a little worried that my opponents will use all their dispell dice on my partner because of Teclis's irresistible force always going off. There is a nice advantage of course to his, Teclis gets to cast freely, with a hell of a lot of PD, most likely going to use fire magic for the most part.
Any advice is welcome, Thanks

Well this looks like a good solid start for an army, but I do have a few quick suggestions to improve it's efficiency.
1) Drop the commands off of the flanking units of swordmasters. You are handing points to your opponents if those standards are captured.
2) Drop all the command bar the standard off of the Dragon Princes and get a 6th man in that unit. More wounds are better than 1 more attack.
This leaves you with roughly 60pts to play with. What you could do is drop 1 swordmaster from each group of 7 and get a 3rd group of 6. Or you could get 4 more Phoenix Guard, or perhaps an eagle.
That part I leave to you.
New LOChat functions now avaliable.

Hehe *evil smirk* Is it the 2v2 Hall of Heroes Tournament in Oakville that's happening in a week?
I guess I'll be seeing you there if that's the case.
yeah it is hehe, my first tourney with HEs but my bud has played his VCs in lots, should be a fun tourney, lots of gaming to do
Tournament went pretty good, I believe we ended up tied for third with a bunch of other teams for straight out game scores, and we were the highest placed team that used high elves. Unfortunately someone brought dark elves with the new rules combined with an orc list and massacred every single game(NASTY). We ended up massacring 2 games, drawing one, solid loss another and got massacred by the dark elves.
Unit out the tournament for me surprisingly was my unit of 10 phoenix guard, who guarded Teclis and the D3 banner very well, but also got into combat several times, never got below half strength, and was able to kill a unit of 15 blood letters twice...and surprisingly kill a Bloodthirster.
White Lions performed consistently, I actually went with a 5X3 for this unit instead of what I posted here, and it did very well. My swordmasters on the otherhand, hate these guys, and I am debating dropping all mine to get more phoenix guards in the future. To me SMs are just too squishy, IF you can actually get them into combat they are monsters yes...but they are always picked off by shooting and outa 14 I would usually only get 2-3 into combat each game, and I failed my panic tests and fear tests probly 80% of the time with them haha.
First Game vs Daemons(khorne) and Orcs
Massacre in our favour
Second Game vs Dark Elves and Orcs
Massacre in opponents favour
Third Game vs Daemons(Tzeentch) and Skaven
Massacre in our favour(My dragon princes pretty much took out 3/4 of the Tzeentch army themselves, yay immune to flaming)
Fourth Game vs Daemons(Nurgle/Tzeentch) and Daemons(Khorne)
Draw within 50 points in our favour(we pulled the draw outa our ass in this one, luckily my unit of dragon princes wiped out a 14 unit of horrors in first round of combat)
Fifth Game vs Dwarves and Daemons(Tzeentch)
Solid Victory in opponents favour(this was a pure cheese list, and great eagles woulda helped a ton, they had a pure gun line dwarf army, with anvil, and the Tzeentch was a pure casting list. Unfortunately we couldn't get across the board fast enough, mainly because my partner couldnt get van hells when he rolled for spells)
It was a fun tournament, and I really liked how well my high elves performed against daemons, I have fought several games now against daemons and only list that one game. The moment of the tourney for me was Teclis casting flames of the phoenix on a unit of skaven with 2 warlocks, a lord, screaming bell, battle standard and 20 regular units, and panicking them off the board in the first turn.
Yea, that gunline army was pure evil... I could say "told you guys so on saturday" but I am not going to .. heh.
We could've pulled a draw on them if I remembered Anvil does not affect single unit size characters... I told my friend to put his Teclis and mage in the unit of 10 White Lions which ended up killing them both, handing more than 700pts to those buggers. We could've just place those 2 mages in the forest which is actually touching the southeast table corner, and have them stay there the entire game casting drain magic.
The highlight of our army was that, for 5 games straight, not a single opponent managed to throw off a magic kill during their magic phase -- Drain Magic + Great Standard of Sundering It was during that gunline army's game, we managed to pulled off a irresistable Drain Magic double 6's with the level 1 mage, then Teclis naturally casts the irresistable Drain Magic again, making the Tzeentch dude give up his magic phase with a whopping -8 to cast lol!!!
The tournament was fun, we wish they could host more 2v2s.
ask yer buddy if he wants to buy my swordmasters lol..i have 16 total with 2X full command...I'm pretty sure i wanna replace them with another unit of white lions of phoenix guard.
