I know there are many lists here and all have their perks. I am somewhat disheartened of just how small a force HE are (I am horde army player in my heart). However, the new DE look bad I am a bit unsure what to do?
Armor of Protection
Armor of Caledor
Ring of Fury
17 White Lions; Musician
17 White Lions; Musician
5 Dragon Princes
Any thoughts, comments or callings of shenanigans on this list?? If not, then I am happy to let it die and let you all know what happens on Friday.
I would lose the armour of protection, instead give him a helm of fortune instead, and Dragon Armour to give him fireproofness. Add in a Guardian Phoneix, although I'd put this rather on the BSB - however, do you really need a BSB against Dark Elves due to Valour of Ages? Unless you want Banner of the World Dragon or Battle Banner, I wouldn't use him, make him a more a support unit with Reaver bow.
Give one of your mages the ring of corin and tricksters pendant - Dark Elves churn out a LOT of powerdice.
The other mage should be Ring of Fury and/or possibly silver wand or Jewel of dusk. You need a scroll caddy
You don't need/won't have the chance to use two eagles, Dark Elves shoot up your units something chronic. I would drop them and be tempted to take another Repeater to wipe out those Corsairs and Cold One units...
The game ended in a sollid victory for the DE. I got my butt handed to me. I had replaced 17 of the White Lions with 17 Pheonix Guards. I figured the fear, armor save and the ward save would serve me better. Well they got shot up to heck! By the time they got into CC they were 2 strong!
My White Lions failed their Stubborn test and were run down by a chariot.
He overran a chariot that I charged into 5 CoK, which was what I wanted in order to pull them out of position. The problem was they overran a HUGE number and thus set himself up for hitting my archers with a mage only to overrun them and hit the other unit of archers with the other mage.
He took 2 units of 5 harpies which did just fine, one unit took out a BT, which stunk.
I dropped the BSB and put the Reaver Bow with a e. Shield. He was guarding the BTs but he was hit by the overrunning CoK and thus got overran again because he failed to wound and was outnumbered by a fear unit. Should of had him on an Eagle.
I dropped the eagles, but to be honest, I wish I had not. It would have been easy to march block and guard the eagles from shooting, and would have had a been a great addition. I should of kept one eagle and had the other eagle be a mount for the hero with the reaver bow.
I learned a lot in this game, as it was my first with HE. I really liked the look and feal of the DE though. I think they will be something to be taken seriously in the coming months.
Thanks for the comment.
It's a shame. I would reason that the reason you got shot to heck is that you tried to advance Phoneix Guard thinking the 4+ ward and 5+ armour is enough? Dark Elves can pump masses of fire. Where you have advantages of DE is the length of charge n your cavalry like Dragon Princes.
Also luck had something to do with it, but remember that even Elves need LD9 or 10 at times....Don't let chariots charge you, they are certainly slow enough to be stopped, and CO chariot is also not that tough.
Taking one eagle was recommended :-)
Did your noble have a great weapon?
you should have instead of having two units of seventeen you should of had 2 units of 10 and one of 14 he wouldn't of said oh look a gigantic unit of 17 I better shoot the hell out of them The same thing happened to me
