Welcome to Librarium Online!
ok I want to use a dragon mage in a 1k list i know I probably shouldn't do it but i want to change to usual 2 cheap characters and loads of cheap soldiers I would still like to win but as long as there is a dragon I dont mind that much so here goes
dragon mage dispel scroll armour of caladour( from past experiences I need the armour)400
16 spearmen full command
10 archers musician
10 white lions full command
ok now some sort of plan would be in order charge forward while the dragon flies ahead and attacks war machines or archers arfer that he sits back casts spells unitil some unit needs help. should be fun
changes, critisism all welcome
The Dragonmage isn't allowed to have the Armour of Caledor.
Instead, take the Guardian Phoenix if anything, but at games this small I'd be tempted to run the Dragonmage vanilla, with perhaps the Lvl2 upgrade.
I like the mass of infantry, but consider taking a RBT instead of the archers, as it'll be a lot more effective and cheaper. With the points, you can get more White Lions or an upgrade for your Dragonmage.
Consider dropping the archers and some Spearmen for cavalry, as well. Dragon Princes are preferable.
what why isn't the dragon mage allowed armour of caladour where does it say? googd point on the archers
The Dragonmage counts as a Wizard under the main rules, and such characters are not allowed to take armour, unless I've overlooked something serious.
Actually it is inaccurate - if a Dragon Mage could take normal armour, he could take Armour of Caledor, however as cannot select such, he may not take any magic armour. This is stated in the BRB - the general rule is that Wizards may not take armour, hence cannot take dragon armour. I would give this boy sacred incense or guardian phoenix, and a silver staff.
Vampires are explivitly stated as being able to take magic armour even though they don't have the ability to take armour without the vampiric powers dreadnight or avatar of death.
ohh ok :disapointed sigh:hmmm change that to the guardian pheonix
The dragon mage needs the silver wand. This is pretty much a default item for all dragon mages since it effectively gives you an extra power die. Options for additional shizz include the ring of fury or guardian phoenix. I go with the latter myself due to the fragility of a unarmoued T3 character.
The rule of wizards not being able to wear armour is from the 6th edition.
If you want to give your Dragon Mage some more protection, take a look at the Golden Crown of Attrazar(sp?).
Personally I can think of a better ways to spend 40pts but it does sound like another option.
That might be true. But, if you're running a Dragon Mage at 1k, he's going to be a very significant chunk of your army, and if he goes down... You're going to have a tough time for the rest of the game.
