trying to make a small competitive list for a 1k army. More of the defensive type.
gem of courage (goes with spearmen)
21 spearmen (deploying 7x3)
2 bolt throwers
5 shadow warriors
Although this army is a little light on numbers, it's firepower is very very powerful. Your magic phase should be fairly dominant, as should your shooting.
My main concern is your lack of a strong flanking system, or any way to break heavy armour once it charges you.
These are minor concerns though, in the grand scheme. They could perhaps be remedied by the following changes:
1) Drop one Bolt thrower
2) Drop the shadow warriors
3) Get 1 Great eagle to do the march blocking
4) Get a unit of 7 Swordmasters with a Bladelord to flank the spearmen, so once they accept the charge, your swordmasters can carve the enemy up.

why eleven archs? why not ten or tweleve? your only real consider should be an army souly dedicated to one faze (gun line, all cav, ect.). your army does lack hitting power and armour is more or less non-exsistive. since you only need one core (and it pains me to say in since i love them) you might want to drop the spears and add a unit of WL or PG to add some hitting power/ surivablity to the list.
I would say the Warbanner is a bit of a waste on the Spears because by themselves they won't win lots of combat. I'm assuming you're not really going to advance the Spears, but instead keep them back by your missile troops to protect them. That being the case, (and I don't have my books on me right now so I don't remember the points values), I would try to drop that banner and switch it out for the Banner of Sorcery. If you had to scrounge up a few extra points somewhere, drop the command for the Bows and cut the unit size down to 10. This will allow your magic phase to have a greater chance for a powerful effect on the game.

how about this the shadow warriors werent having a huge effect on the game enough for me so i managed to squeeze in another mage

it should be 1001 points. I was thinking of making my mages more like a magic missile battery using the lore of light spell or maybe the lore of metal for a good sniper and take the annulian crystal mage with high magic for support. I was going to have the ring of fury mage and the lvl 1 mage in with the spears the lvl 1 was going with lore of light using the magic missile spell the ring mage im debating on light, metal or high.

For what you're going for, it might be fine (I would still drop the Warbanner ). But for me, that is putting too much reliance in one area of the game...that area being magic which is the least reliable of all parts of the game.
that list in destory in the magic faze if you roll well. i agree with vase, you need some supprt for the spears, drop an RBT and the war banner and find 30 more points to take a unit of SM, WL, PG. and good luck
