Used to play 40k and have started playing HE, dug out and painted up models i bought a while back. Will be playing Dark Elves mostly, War Hydra, Cold ones, Executioners, Corsairs + assassins, crossbows and spears. Probably RBTs
I bought these for a previous edition, and while poor, so no SM WL or PG.
My initial idea
Prince - Blade of Leaping gold - Armour of the Gods - in LSG
Mage lvl2 - Ring fury
Mage lvl2 - seer staff - dispel scroll
Noble - reaverbow, great weapon, dragon armour - in spears
15 spearmen - std - war banner
15 LSG (sh) - std
5 shadow warriors
5 Dragon Princes - std - sorcery
8 SH (sh) - std
General idea is deploy deep in a semi circle with the three shock units on the flanks. Then count on magic and rbts to whittle down his units so the centre will hold. I know i need to buy a BSB. Reaver bow is there for warmachine crew / sorceresses
My other models are: teclis, 2 mounted nobles/princes, 10 archers, 1 lsg, 1 spear, 2 shadow warriors, thats about it really.
All comments welcome!

Welcome to LO, I hope that we can help you out.
First the bad news, we no longer have access to Armour of the Gods, it was never written into the new army book.
I would give the Prince, Armour of Caledor instead.
You can spend the 10 extra points on an extra spell for the L2 mage.
I think that I would be tempted to drop the Seagaurd and replace them with archers and bolster the spearmen unit. This does leave you with only one anvil unit which can be targeted through his not insignificant magic and shooting. To help defend them you could change the Warbanner to Banner of Arcane Protection.
Choosing Rainlord is a terrific way to slow down his shooting, remember that Repeater crossbows are armour peircing now so rainlord affects them with -2 not just -1. For the other lore you need something to soak up scrolls and dispel dice so maybe fire to do lots of damage.
Good luck in your games against the Dark Elves, I am currently finding them a real challenge and can't seem to consistently get the best of them.
I haven't played against DE in a LONG time. Do the assassins just pop out of units like Goblin Fanatics do? I'm wondering if having an Eagle or two could help with that....?
High Elf WiP Tactica
i hate fighting DE, assassins get to hit first and they got some sacrificial dagger that lets them use vertually as much power dice as they need, i found star dragon+eagles, take out rbt fast and should be able to run through the rest with the dragon (unless you get an unlucky 1rst turn and the dragon gets shot to shit), also noble with battle banner in dragon princes+war banner is brilliant against anything thats not stubburn or unbreakable, thats my method, screw defence fight on your own terms
I was planning to combat assassins by whittling the unit down and hitting it with a chariot.
Found out my opponent has little magic, one sorceress, so might get in teclis with the lore of death or maybe high magic primarily to cause damage. Tempted by the spell in death D6 S3 no save hit for coldones and the DE lord with pendant of annoyingness. Though shadow for the pit of shades to take out hydra and RBTs might be good.
Then maybe 2 lvl2s as in this list. Seerstaff -> howler wind and rainlord/assault stone/assualt tree. And fire or if teclis doesn't take it, high for the rindg of fury silver wand guy. No prince or noble and the SH cut down and LSG -> archers to pay for it. So thats PD 10 + 2D3 + RoF Vs 3 DD. Praying for no miscasts!
Shadow warriors to take out RBTs / march block.
