So, after getting bored with my arch mage list I have decided to go the other way for a change.
I want this to be a competitive list so all constructive critisim welcome.
12 whitelions+m+sb+lion ban=223
12 swordmasters+m+sb+std of balance=243
6 Dragon princes+fc+ban of ellyrion+skeinsilver=270
Options may be to change 2 scrolls for the annulian crystal and also change the chariot for shadow warriors.
Looks like a solid army. Maybe shadow warriors against warmachines, or a second eagle, but looks solid.
I think that I would want to run an extra unit of DP with a noble, maybe a BSB. This will cost you a mage and either your SM or your WL, I would also like to get an extra eagle.
Ideally you want to have less units (for the +1 to first turn) than your opponent however so I may drop both foot sloggers in favour of chariots, DP and an extra eagle or chariot, DP and shadow warriors.
I like the look of this army a lot. Looks quite simular to the winner of the US GT not so long ago, (2007 I think). My biggest concerns are the standards on the elite troop units being easy points for the enemy.
I also think you could do away with the 2nd mage, as 1 with 2 scrolls should give you enough defence to allow your big nasty dragon to munch a spell caster or two. The spare points that releases could get you a 2nd eagle and another chariot, which I think work better in pairs.
Just my thoughts
New LOChat functions now avaliable.

Depending on the army you are playing against I would change the SM with a unit of PG.
@gingerninja: It was GT 2008. But now I know where I've seen this army before :-)
Thanks for all the thoughts.
I did consider dropping the dragon princes champ and skeinsliver which would get me the second eagle, the problem being I'm scared if I don't get first turn things may not go well, it being such a small army!
Am going to play test it tonight and see what happens.
I think the comment about chariots in pairs may be true, will wait and see. Ultimately, I could lose a mage and replace him with a lion chariot. Yet another hard hitting unit
So, after my first game tonight I have tweaked my list slightly to hopefully make it better.
What do you guys think?
12 whitelions+m+sb+lion ban=223
12 swordmasters+fc+skeinsliver+std of balance=280
6 Dragon princes+m+sb+war ban=230
So, the idea with the sacred incense mage is to provide some protection to the swordmasters.
The skeinsliver I'm gonna keep for the moment as I think getting first turn with this list is important.
And the war banner on the dragon princes is to try and help them be a bit more reliable!
my daughter is presently running a similiar list with a few exceptions. Her mages are second level and one goes into a large unit of swordmasters with the sacred incense. She lost 9 against two RBT the other day in one turn. But they still reached combat.
I am thinking about the skein to increase the chances of first turn. But there is something to be said about going second also.
The star dragon with this set up is awesome. Watch out for that one init. based spell.
I agree. Going second means last chance to rally, and if you manage to panic anything on turn 6, your opponent (rule check? I'm pretty sure) gets no chance to rally. Those count for full points.
It's a solid list, I'd just be concerned about combats that the dragon wasn't in. None of your units have static CR. That might not matter too much for SMs or WLs, but Stubborn 8 will fail sometimes, and the SMs chainsaw will sputter sometimes. These units could both break. Also, if the DPs don't break something turn one (or simply flank), they will be hitting like cute little spearmen forever after, but without the static CR. Be careful with that.
If you use the Dragon Lord as your 'anvil', and support him as such, you will do great. But if he's off flying around killing what he pleases, the rest of your army will seem very small in comparison to what's being thrown at them.
The LSG... well 10 won't scare anyone in CC, and if you're looking for ranged, just use archers and free up 50 points. Turn that Tiranoc into a REAL chariot.
But I'm harping on small points. Looks like a very solid list, should do great. You always have less points to mess with when you throw in a dragon (believe me, I play Chaos too), and it seems like your army shrinks significantly. But smart play should compensate, and the dragon/lord will (pardon my American) wreak someone's sh*t.
Have fun, and keep us updated with how it goes.
