this is the 1st time collecting HE and this is what i have come up with. This is what i want so some direction could help. Much appreciated
Silver Wand - 345
Annulian Crystal - 175
Sigil of Asuryan - 175
Archers x 10 (Archmage)
Banner of Arcane Protect - 160
Archers x 10 (Mage) - 110
Archers x 10
Stnd - 125
Phoenix Guard x 15 (Mage)
Banner of Sorcery - 305
Phoenix Guard x 15
Command - 255
Repeat bolt throw x3 - 300
Great Eagle - 50
Total = 2000
The tactic being i stay in my deployment zone and shoot/ cast magic whilst my eagle goes up the flank towards the war machine/enemy wizard and my phoenix guard move up the centre & other flank. Think it's ok??

The main thing there for me is that if you want infantry to stalk up the flanks you really want white lions instead of PG. With their woodsman rule you can travel really easily and they are pretty much as protected as the phoenix guard against ranged attacks.
Also your archmage is illegal as you have 2 arcane items on it.
If sitting back and shooting/magicing is your plan then may I suggest these mages (I used them today to very good effect)
Seerstaff of Saphery
Ring of Fury
Ring of Corin
Jewel of Dusk
This will give you a total of 11 +D3 Power dice and a respectable 6 Dispel dice and 2 scrolls. The only real drawback is that youre getting dangerously close to cheese but have you SEEN the Lizardman book...
Furthermore I wouldn't bother with any command on your archers. If they get into combat, they will lose, and no number of musicians will help that. Use the points to boost either your PG or (if you make the switch) White Lions.
And finally, and this is going in blod because it is VERY important:
PUT YOUR ARCHMAGE IN THE PHOENIX GUARD
PG are possibly the best defensive unit in the game, don't wast them protecting some lowly mage. If in doubt you can always put your other mages in RBT crews. I'm a big fan of doing this because in order to hit the mage they will be needing 5,6 to hit crew, then 5,6 to hit the mage. So only 10% of attcaks will hit the mage, whilst he still has 360 degree line of sight to batter spells with.
your archmage is indeed illegal because you have 2 arcane items. so you really need to change that.
i should drop the archers at all and add some spearmen, but because you want to get charged, you can leave it like this, but without the commands.
furthermore do i think it is very risky to let just 1 eagle take a whole flank.. maybe you need to add an extra special infantry unit to attack on that same flank..
