Dragon Mage 1500pt list (friendly game)

    Hello everyone!

I'm reading the post on this forum for a time now, and it's good to see the friendly and useful replies. (Sorry for the not too good english, this is not my native language.) I need some advice about my new army. I'm a casual player, playing mostly friendly matches (the last match about 3 years ago ). I like the changes in the new edition especially the new dragon mage, and I want to try them out.

This is my plan on a 1500pt army list. All comments are welcome.

    Dragon Mage
    - Lv 2
    - Staff of Solidity
    - Guardian Phoenix
    430pt

    Mage
    - Lv 2
    - Silver Wand
    - Ring of Fury
    185pt

    15 Spearmen
    - Full command
    160pt

    10 Archers
    - Musician
    115pt

    15 Phoenix Guard
    - Full command
    - Banner of Arcane Protection
    280pt

    10 Swordmasters
    - Full command
    180pt

    Repeater Bolt Thrower
    100pt

    Great Eagle
    50pt

    Total:1500pt

    Thanks for the help!

Why not drop the archers for a second RBT? A unit of 10 is great for fulfilling core requirements, but outside that, they won't do too much. An RBT is much more effective.

Sword masters do not really need full command unless you are going to give them with a banner for terrain ignoring or sorcery. Of course amulet of light making all their attacks magical is great against certain opponents.

The dragon mage really needs the silver wand. Remember he already gets a free power dice for ever spell he attempts to cast. He is a wild man therefore one should just take advantage of it.

Do the PG really need the banner of arcane protection. Your spearman could really use the banner of lion courage.

What is the bottom line? You have to play and like the list. Therefore you being the general are in charge.

    Revised

Thanks for the comments. I updated the list. I take out the archers, and got a second RBT. Because this way I had 3 Rare I swapped out the Great Eagle with Shadow warriors (to block marching units).

    Revised list:

    Dragon Mage
    - Lv 2
    - Silver Wand
    - Guardian Phoenix
    420pt

    Mage
    - Lv 2
    - Ring of Fury
    185pt

    15 Spearmen
    - Full command
    - Lion Standard
    185pt

    15 Phoenix Guard
    - Full command
    - Amulet of Fire
    275pt

    10 Swordmasters
    - Bladelord
    162pt

    5 Shadow Warriors
    80pt

    Repeater Bolt Thrower
    100pt

    Repeater Bolt Thrower
    100pt

    Total:1497pt

I'm not sure about the item setup, maybe too much for 1500pt army?

The only reason to upgrade a SM to a Blade lord is to give him something magical. I like the amulet of light making all attacks magical. There are alot of undead out there with those nasty blocks requiring magic to hurt. For what 12 points you are getting one attack. It is late therefore I do not see an easy way to get the points.
