hi! im doing a campain and we will be starting with a 750 pt armie list it will get bigger later but what we start out with we cant change later on unless the whole unit gets wiped out. ( the general magic items can) so this will be my starting list for hopes of the future bigger army list i am next to a skaven player and a brettonian player to start with...
noble-Grat wep. Armour of caledor Guardian pheonix: 143
10x archers :xxx
20x sword master- full command: 325
18x spearmen- standard bearer: 172
so ya... i will rely heavily on the sword masters making it into combat. we can only start out with 1 hero 1 special and 1 rare (rare can be turned into special if wanted to) but all the rest has to be core... i am looking forward to your opinians. thanks
For small battles, its generally all about firepower and speed. My first bash at a 750 list would be:
Noble - Greatweapon, Hvy Armour, Reaverbow - 137
10 Archers - XXX
6 Dragon Princes - Standard - Banner of Ellyrion - 215
11 Swordmasters - Bladelord - Talisman of Loec - 187
1 RBT - XXX
Put the noble in the swordmasters, DPs can either flank through cover, or wait for units weakened by firepower to get in range. The bladelord takes bad challenges for the noble. ToL is there as against any hero he will die, T3 5+ sv just doesn't last, may as well try and take the enemy hero with him in a maelstrom of steel.
I would personally put a mix of the two lists together. I would change your original list in the following manner to create this list:
Armour of Caledor
17 Spearmen: 163pts (Noble here)
6 Dragon Princes: 215pts
Banner of Ellyrion
Repeater Bolt Thrower
This gives you some shooting, a solid core, as well as 2 strong flanking units.
New LOChat functions now avaliable.

another good thing about DP is that if they dont charge they can attack with hand wep. and sheild and get another +1 armour save. for a +2 armour save total to help them with survivability... but i generaly dont play with calv... i dont like how many points they cost...
I thought that bonus was only on foot, but would be useful.
I'm a big fan of DPs, I know they cost a lot, but they're well protected, highly damaging and have the one thing the elite infantry is missing, speed! As I try to play an all comers list, I wouldn't want to face a gunline with no cav. And in small point games a 2+ sv is hard to deal with, add a 16" charge with 2 S5 1 S3 attack per model, thats a lot of rolling. Also if you can later add a BSB with battle banner, they become unstoppable. Due to a slight distance miscalulation, I ended up with a unit of DPs charge by ogres, killed 1 wounded another and the champion and then ran them down!
