Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi guys, I was wondering what you think about my army list that I came up with and keep in mind that this tourny is just for fun and is comped so I didn't want to try anything cheessy, so here it is:
-armor of caledor
White Lions x12
Tiranoc Chariot x2
Shadow warriors x5
Bolt thrower x2
Okay, so now I'm wondering what you folks think about this army. I bet the first thing you noticed is that there is no magic and thats what I want. I have always have magic of some sorts when I play my high elves and this time I decided to go without it and see how it works out. This is a comped tourny so I am trying to keep this balance that way I get better scores then last time ( I used a heavy magic VC army and people gave me pretty dirty looks ). When I look at this army it doesn't quite feel right, like I'm missing something but I do not know what. I was thinking of adding in some cavalry but DP's might be a bit to expensive and give me lower comp scores so I'm hoping that some of you veterens can give me some advice. My battle plan goes as follows:
My noble on the eagle flies around shooting up anything tough that might seem a threat because of his strength 5 shots. My other noble goes with the spearmen to give them some more fighting power while the spearmen soak up damage. The spearmen and white lions form the core of my army while the chariots go to the flanks. My swordmasters usually stick with either the WL of spearmen to add a counter attack, sort of like a detachement. They could also go after other smaller, weaker units (and cavalry to some extent) because of thier ASF and two attacks. I like to think of my great eagle as a throw away unit, I sacrafice it for the greater good of my army. Then my shadow warriors try to slow down units. Do you guys think that I have enough fire power to force the enemy to me, because Im not so sure that this army be that offensive, but you never know, HE's always suprise me. Do you think my battle plan pretty solid, I'm just wondering how it will do against magic.
Thanks for reading all of this and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Not an Elf player, but i see your lacking some magic defense. Dont know how you would get any without adding any offensive magic, but i wouldnt field an army without it.
I am trying to not use any magic in this army, which is totally different then what my opponents will be expecting. It is 1500pts so there wont be any uber strong magic lords to worry about and I get +1 to dispel which will help me a lot. One thing I have been considering is taking some silverhelms. Yes, I know that no one uses them anymore but its a comp. friendly tournament and it will keeps my army really balanced. Do you guys think silverhelms could be useful or should I just try and take something els.
Well the list is illegal. You have three Rare choices, and you can only take two at this point level.
Why not drop the Eagle, put the Reaver bow on the foot Noble, and the Star Lance on the eagle-mounted noble?
Also you do not get the +1 to dispel, you must have a mage in the army to gain that bonus.
Wow, I guess I didn't read through the book carefully, its been awhile since I last played. I guess I'll drop the eagle and maybe a chariot to add in some silver helms. The reason I keep my noble with the bow on the eagle is for mobility. He can shoot at what ever he wants too while still being able to charge war machines and such. I guess I'll have to re work my army, thanks for pointing those things out.
There is nothing wrong with a Reaver Bow/Eagle Noble at all, it's a good combination. I was just suggesting some alterations.
Also, I have to say, unless you are restricted by models, there is really no point in taking Silver Helms over DPs. The few extra points buy you an extra attack and better armour. Well worth!
