Good evening everyone,
I'm new to the site and not an experienced WHFB player. I'm posting an army list I would like you people to comment, all your advices and costructive criticisms are more than welcome.
Basicly, I based myself on my models availability at the current moment. This is a list for friendly games (which does not mean I don't want to win those games ), which most likely I will play against Orcs and Empire.
This army's purpose would be mainly that of taking down as much as I can from the distance and then get to fight against weakened units.
This said, here comes the list:
- Dragon Armour
- Enchanted Shield
- Reaver Bow
- 2 level
- Ring of Fury / Annulian Cristal
17x Lothern Sea Guards
- Full Command
8x Shadow Warriors
2x Repeater Bolt Thrower
And that makes exactly 1000 points, at least in my calculator's opinion.
So, what do you think?
you have a really shooty army, but do you think that's enough?? i think you will have a big problem if any warmachine hunters or flyers come in your direction. Or if your (orc) enemy is smart enough to shield his hard hitting units with his weaker units, forming a living shield..
i would see the seerstaff on the mage so you could make sure you get the curse of arrow attraction
you could try it though.. i think you will be really massacred, or will make a massacre of your own.. and nothing in between but i will be fun anyway
I certainly hope it will be enough. Every model in this army can hurt from a distance, I really can't think of anything else for a shooty army (and for the models I've got, mostly ).
To reply to your concerns:
Orcs generally don't fly. Or better, orcs cannot fly at all at this game size, I'm pretty sure of that.
If he shields, he will probably do that with goblins, which can be fairly easily killed or panicked by my S3 archery, leaving the "to-be-shielded" unit in line of sight for my Bolt Throwers. Or at least i hope so Or if I get to have a hill under my RBTs then there's no problem, right?
I repute hunters the greatest issue, actually. Some nasty and fast Wolfriders are always there in his armies, I guess I'd have to shot them down either with magic or with arrows as soon as I can.
As for the magic, I'm almost sure I'll take High Magic and I guess the Seer Staff is not really needed, or at least in my opinion: I'm always swapping something for Shield of Saphery as I want to protect my units as well as possible, as for the other spell...you're right, if I got Curse of Arrow Attraction it would be fitting great on this army, but also Fury of Khaine would be a blast in offence...casting it two times a turn sounds pretty good
Anyways, I'll try this list as soon as possible and then I'll let you know. Thanks for the feedback anyways
i was reading your comment and i nice idea came up in my mind: if you have the chance, it would make a real fun army if you get to squeeze some ellyrian reavers in there i think that it will only fit in a 1500 PT army, but it would be nice; giving you some flanking capability with still a full shooting army
well good luck shooting greenskins, and i'm looking forward to the result of the game!
Reavers...I have to say that they're my worst liked unit in the whole army. I feel like they're quite costy for what they do, but it might easily be me, I have absolutely no experience with fast cavalry.
