Hey people, first post here!
Haven't played Warhammer for 7 or 8 years but I'm building a quick High Elf army to play and keep my friend company while he's sick.
He plays Lizardmen so the army should be based mostly around countering them.
I don't have access to unit costs or anything at the moment so I'm going to just give rough unit ideas.
He has huge armies so whatever point army I build he can match, so I haven't got a particular size in mind, I'm thinking 1500 just so I don't have to spend TOO much money.
Any advice or criticism would be appreciated (especially when it comes to magic items and tactics as I have no idea how things have changed over the last few years.)
General - Eltharion (Can you still use him in the new rules?)
1 prince/noble on barded steed
Level 2 Mage x 2 (1 with Swordmasters possibly battle mage and 1 with spearmen defencive mage.)
Dispel scrolls? What sort of magic do Lizardmen armies use?
1 unit of spearmen (rather than archers?) /w full command (18 3x6?)
1 unit of white lions /w full command possibly korhill? (14, 2x6 or 17, 3x5? With 2 left over to preserve ranks.)
1 medium (14)/2 small (7x2)units of Swordmasters 1 /w full command and eltharion (With eltharion they become stubborn? Possibly giving them both anvil and hammer characteristics?)
1 unit of Dragon Princes /w full command and noble (5 units?)
2 x RBT
Possibly 1 white lion chariot?
Total Points: No freaking clue?
Cheers guys, please point out if I've left any gaping holes
Eltharion is now a Lord choice, so you aren't allowed to take him in 1500 pts' games.
And btw he's not blind anymore.
I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you again. Now he's as he used to be before being blinded, the Grim Warden of Tor Yvresse. No Swordmaster anymore, now he's kind of frenzied goblin eater, who casts spells and rides a Griffon.
I've never played him. Tyrion is far more durable with his AS,WS and regeneration, if you don't want to take a normal prince I'd go with Tyrion
Ah well, I guess my awesomely painted Eltharion will have to act purely as a champion who just happens to also be a blind swordmaster and not as himself
I'd suggest (well, at least thet's what I do with my blinded Eltharion's model) to use him as a footed Noble/Prince with greatsword. Then you put Armour of Caledor and some ward save on him and here's your melee hero
Apart from the disappointment with not having Blind Eltharion I think that your list has a solid foundation.
For 1500 I think that I would go with
Armour of Protection, Great Weapon
(for the points Armour of Caledor and Gaurdian Phoenix is better value but I like the armour of protection on the blind guy the 4+ ward save can be attributed to his freakish reflexes)
L2, Seerstaff and Scroll
18 Spearmen, 202
Full Command + Warbanner
12 White Lions, 210
5 Dragon Princes
2 Repeater Bolt Throwers
You could spend the additional points on Banner of sorcery, or champion for your swordmasters or Dragon Princes, Changing one of Swordmasters into Dragon Princes, more bodies in your units, could also combine the swordmaster units into one unit of 12 and get a tiranoc chariot or unit of 5 Shadow Warriors or 5 Reavers to mess up his skink skirmishers.
Cheers Allonairre That looks awesome!
I'm getting the book in a few days so I'll be able to work out exact points for myself, but that looks like a great place to start
And yeh that's probably what I'll do, thanks again lore
