I hope you guys can read my attached list below, if not I hope it also attached. Anyway I have 2 buddies coming over next weekend for an elf party. What kind of advice can you give me on handling these 2 armies? I was thinking something along these lines for the woodies.
Looks solid. The only thing i'd consider doing is for the wood elves is dropping caradryen and instead taking a plain noble with something like the reaver bow to strengthen your shooting base and then use the spare points to buy some more seaguard, or the amulet of light for one of your units. Do you expect to see large numbers of forest spirits?
I was thinking of putting caradryan in with the lions and a mage and hiding them out in the trees without fear of treesinging due to MR of caradryan. The list my buddy usually brings is multiple dryad and archer units with some wild riders, a noble with HoDA, and a treeman. Basically I was thinking of trying to deny him targets and running the DPs in to kill something pricey.
Well his treesinging with as many mages as you have you shouldn't be a problem. So caradryan isn't totally needed for his MR. And the other thing to remember is using caradryan means he knows exactly what you have. So you're going to have to work a little harder to make sure they get in a favorable charge since they may just avoid your white lions all together. I guess the next question is where are you going to put your mages? That unit of sea guard is pretty small so an average hail of doom arrow is going to wipe out the majority of that unit so it may not be the safest place for them to go. As for lores of the mages. I have had success by using heavens combined with the seer staff so i can take the thunderbolt and lightning bolt so i don't have to worry about range and thn used the Standard of Sorcery to power both. And then if i have a second mage lore of fire to burn the forest down. Your shadow warriors are great scouts but be careful with them so that they don't stray too far because the wood elves being skirmishers and fast cav will be able to turn on them rather quickly. Are the models you've listed the majority you have on hand or do you have any other options?
one mage with the lions, the other with the DPs. i have pretty much every model available, at least for proxy sake.
I've never run a mage like that but sounds pretty solid. Only time will tell. As for the dark elves you'll have to look elsewhere. I have no experiance against them
