So as of right now, my sole opponent is my friend's dwarven army. The other day we played a small 1200pnt army and I won.
I went infantry only and no magic in that fight.
1 Noble with blade of sea gold and enchanted shield
16 spearmen FC and war banner
10 sword masters FC
10 white lions FC
5 shadow warriors
I had points left over so I gave the blade lord and the Guardian some magic army/talismans each. The noble was with the sword masters. Anyway I liked that list, so I wanted to just build on it for my 1500 point army. I decided I basically want to add some magic and just change a few things in the list.
So here's my 1500 list. I'm sticking with no cavalry or chariots in this list too but please give me feed back.
Mage lvl 2 silver want/ring of fury, lore of high magic
mage lvl 2 Seerstaff of saphery, leaning towards shadow lore (pit of shades), but maybe metal.
Noble with reaver bow and enchanted shield, gave him heavy armor so he's got a 3+ save in case he gets attacked.
16 spearmen FC with war banner (worked really well last time)
10 archers (16 was pointless)
10 swordmasters of hoeth FC Banner of Sorcery
10 white lions FC
I had 22 extra points so I changed the nobles heavy armor out for dragon armor (2 pnts) and I threw a talisman of protection and a biting blade on my mage for the hell of it. a little added protection never hurt, besides I couldn't come up with anything better to do with 20 points.
this is sitting right on 1500 points.
what do you guys think?
*edit* I got new info. My buddy told me that he read a strategy that is supposed to be very effective against high elve special units, specifically an effective way to counter my white lions/sword master's high strength hits with ease. I've got no idea what he could be talking about. Any ideas?
Also... I've been rethinking my shadow lore/ metal lore decision. I really would like pit of shades because one successful cast would devistate any dwarf unit it hits. however only being able to use 3 dice to cast a 12+ spell doesn't give me very good chances of success. Metal however provides me with rule of burning iron and commandment of brass. two very effective spells that I have a higher chance of success rate with. From my experience he likes to armor up his thanes to a good 1+ or 2+ save. and he ALWAYS brings an organ gun and sometimes a cannon too. I'm thinking maybe lore of metal might be my better option for a level 2 wizard.

Wow. I hadn't considered lore of life, but after looking at it I see how I could effectively neutralize his gun lines/ crossbowmen. The only thing I'm concerned about is I'm starting to feel like he may be abandoning his traditional gun lines to come up with a new tactic to take out my sepcial units. I'm not sure though, but I think it's worth a try using lore of life instead. Especially since I"ll be picking my spells specifically.
the whole biting blade and talisman of protection on my mage that had a seerstaff I came up with a better idea. Just use that 20 points to throw a power stone in there. If I get the full extra 3 dice form the banner of sorcery and activate the power stone in the same phase. I've got a whole lot of casting dice to overpower his dispel dice. It would give me a pretty awesome shot at soaking his gunline and still having room to cast a few other spells.
