Hiya, I haven't played Warhammer for years but suddenly had a hunger to check it out again. I used to play High Elves, so it's a good place to start. I've made this list from looking at the 7th ed. army book. What do you think?
Prince: Dragon Armour, Hand Weapon, Bow of the Seafarer, Dragonscale Shield
Mage: Lvl. 2, Ring of Fury
Mage: Lvl. 2, Dispel Scroll x2
15 Lothern Sea Guard: Full Command
14 Lothern Sea Guard: Full Command (Prince will join these)
14 White Lions: Full Command, Banner of Sorcery, (Scroll Mage will join these)
8 Swordmasters: Bladelord with 'Foe-Bane'
8 Swordmasters: Bladelord with 'Talisman of Loec'
5 Dragon Princes: Full Command, Banner of Ellyrion
1 Repeater Bolt Thrower
1 Great Eagle
And that's exactly 2000pts.
I usualy don't count too much on a ward save of 6+, so I would replace the Dragonscale Shield for a simple Enchanted Shield, and with those 10 points I would give Silver Wand to one of the mages.
Is it for a tournament, or is it a list against a spesific opponent?
It's just for playing against a couple of mates at the moment (one's Orcs and Gobbos, the other Vampire Counts/Tombs Kings, he's got both), though I would like to be able to take it to tournaments when I get used to it again.
I kind of like the ward save as a bit of a last chance saloon when armour saves aren't allowed (for whatever reason) but maybe I've got me armour save maths wrong. If he's got heavy armour, dragonscale/enchanted shield, hand weapon in close combat is that: 5+ plus
2 for shield plus 1 for shield and hand weapon = 2+ save?
Also I'm kinda worried that none of my regiments are that big, but I guess that just comes with the territory for HE.
I like your list and I think super sorcorer's ideas would fit really well. You could try switching the lotheren SG to one unit of say 20 spears and a unit of 10 or so archers. I'm pretty sure that would give you a few extra points too to mess around with

Byjugo's WIP Thread
I saw in a GW board FAQ once, but have had trouble finding the thread again.... Anyway, its the same concept as the magic weapon. The bonus is granted for having a "hand weapon" and a "shield". Just as a magic weapon (even if only carried in one hand) is no longer a "hand weapon", a magic shield is no longer a "shield". Magic shields like the enchanted shield that give +2 to AS are essentially a way to get the extra +1 to AS without having to give up your magic weapon.
I just went to GW website and looked up the official FAQ, thinking it might be in there. Turns out it is. First official FAQ, page 5under "Weapons". Turns out, I was wrong. You do still get the parry bonus for mundane weapon + magic shield. I formally apologize to anyone I may have inadvertedly mislead.
