Since I just painted up Tyrion and am quite happy with him I decided to write up a quick list at 2,250 points and let you folks pick it apart so I can see if I'm on the right track or just simply insane. I do also have the ability to up this to a higher points bracket if need be, whether this is 2500-3000 I have the suitable amount of models from swordmasters, white lions, lion chariot, dragons, griffons, characters and so on.
Any adivce, criticism along with explanations or personal experience with Tyrion would be great. I normally run a prince on dragon but want to try something new.
So her goes...
Heroes (562 max) 350 points total
Mage-Lvl 2, Dispel Scroll. = 160 points
Noble-85-, BSB, Barded Steed, Dragon Armor, Sheild, Helm of Fortune, Guardian Phoenix, Great Weapon. = 190
Core (562 min) 619
32 Spearmen- FC -313-
10 Sea Guard-shields - 130 points
Special (up to 1125) 680
5 Dragon Princes-, FC. = 200 points
20 Phoenix Guard, FC. = 330 points
10 Sword Masters-xxx-
Rare (up to 562)
I'm also considering making a teclis or archmage/BoH list as an alternative to try out as I have only played a handful of games and found magic to be quite fun at time (or disastrous when thrown back at you)
I would either drop the Seaguard all-together, or drop spears to beef the seaguard. As it is now, they're simply more expensive archers with a slight armor save. They have same WS, same number of attacks, same LD, same Initiative, and if you feild them 5 wide the yhave the same number of attacks. Spears are only effective in 3 ranks. HE spears are most effective in 4 ranks. With only 10 models, you'll never get the benifit of spears.
I also think you have too much invested in one unit. You're going to have your DP, BSB, and I'm guessing Tyrion in the same unit. Thats all fine and good, they'll kill almost anything.... but if that unit goes down to say, Infernal Gateway, you lose the game. Consider dropping the mount on your noble and tossing him in with either the spears or the PG. That will give you two units capable of killing stuff vs just the one.
I'm not saying your spears won't kill anything, just that if they come by some chaos warriors or something they'll just be bouncing all day.
I hear what your saying about the sea guard, I should have mentioned that although I have alternatives for the lord, hero, rare and special, I actually lack more core lol. That's the exact core total i own so i was workin around that but I noticed that the seaguard are available in plastics on GW site so I may go that route eventually.
As for the BSB in the PG or I definitely see what you mean, I was considering that initially but decided to mount him up to get a better save on him. I'll probably give both options a try in the next week or so hopefully seeing as schools wrapping up.
Actually i may as well just toss the seaguard in with the spears to bulk them out, wont look pretty but hey they're elves with spears.

I agree with Finchht09, play your BSB on foot. Armour of Caledor and Guardian Phoenix will keep him alive and GW will pack some punch. Plus he's cheaper! I wouldn't actually know where to put it though... 7x3 with PG sounds nasty and it's probably the way to go if you somehow buff your Spearmen with your Mage, for instance with Okkam's mind razor. If you choose to go this way then get your Mage a Seerstaff to be sure to get the spells you need. I'd also put the LSG in the Spearmen regiment to have them 40 man strong. Plus maybe a Warbanner, just in case, or a Banner of Arcane Resistance if you want to go more defensive.
Hope it helps,
Your archers could be combined with the LSG into a single unit - won;t look very nice, but it provides enough clue as to their nature, just be explicit. That way you can play the unit as a 4 ranks of 6, or 5 ranks of 5 + extras, and that unit should be steadfast all day long against most opponets (Cavalry, Chaos warriors, High Elf elites etc)

Thanks for the comments, I'm also thinking I may just bump the points up to a 2500 list and add a 20 man unit of white lions, think thats a decent way to go ?
It would make quite a solid unit in my opinion. On the other hand, you might choose to buff what you already have: for instance you could add a Bolt Thrower, take out 6 Archers and make your LSG unit 24-man strong. But then again, it may depend on who you play against.
Hope it helps,
Others would argue, but I've never found white lions effective past 15-18. They're stubborn, so they don't need that 4th rank. I'd use them 5*3 or sometimes 6*3, but never in a block of 20 which i would assume would be 5*4. Nothing should survive those guys anyway, assuming you don't throw them into a tar pit like zombies or something like that. 6*3 is 13 (with champion) attacks that will likely all hit thanks to the re-roll, and wound on 2's against most everything. S6 will cancel most of the armor save off even the most armored of foes. If you're limited on models, then there's not much else you can do, but I would take the extra poitns frome dropping those 5 or so lions and beef up the seaguard, unless you're adding in the archers as kithre suggested. In that case, you've got a solid amount of points to give them a nice banner. Perhaps razor standard or standard of discipline. Razor would mean even 1+ armor save lords are testing on 5+, and discipline would give you stubborn 9. Both would be amazing.
