1000.0 Pts - High Elves Roster
1 Noble - Great Weapon; Dragon Armour; Dragonscale shield; Sacred incense
20 Phoenix Guard
1 Repeater Bolt Thrower
13 Sword Masters of Hoeth
Total Roster Cost: 997.0
The noble will be put in the Sword Masters and will line up 7 wide
Any thoughts or pointers are gladly welcomed
swordmasters are gonna be pretty open to shooting, id suggest dropping them to get more phoenix guard, or another bolt thrower, other wise it seems pretty solid
cant have the shield with a great weapon though as it requires two hands, just read what the sacred incense is good choice

thank you well i thought about that, thats why i added the sacred incense for the -1 to shoot that unit and this will eventually be for an escalation league and 30+ phoenix guard dont really fetch a good comp score at 1000 points
I understand your going for the super killiness of the Sword Masters and the -1 to shoot from incense is a good enough idea but if you know your opponents well you could also consider White Lions instead for there added survivability. I guess it's more a personal preference, either fewer st6 attacks or more st5 attacks thats your call there but just a suggestion. I'm guessing you may have thought that through already, I'm just getting 20 white lions for christmas so i seem to suggest them to everyone.
That is a good point and the stubbornness of the white lions is definitely a plus. I also played a couple of test games with friends last night and when i went against a shootie style army my sword masters didn't fair to well.
That's the norm for Sword Masters, luckily my last two games were against Vampire Counts so I went up against ZERO shooting so i was kinda laughing. But once there's a bow or gun in sight hell even Mage then they are usually gonna die.
i think the choice depends on what armies you're gonna face, against larger creatures, such as a hydra the white lions would be preferable, but not against another unit of "elite" warriors such as the black guard. you could try adding a mage with lore of life, flesh to stone would increase the survivability of the swordmasters, coupled with the -1 to hit at range they should make it to close combat and still be in effective numbers.
i play dark elves and lizardmen and a few of my friends play high elves so ive seen what they can do against very different units
