Lose the specific point values, there is far too much info displayed there
fixed! can you now tell me what you think of the army? :p
Similalry a Horde of WHite Lions is going to be very difficult to wield properly - High Elf units are better off in a narrow front with maximum attacks, as the wide units will dish out a lot of hurt, but against many more elite enemies you lose attacks, and against enemy hordes or cannon-fodder infantry, a wider unit will lose you more elves for a poor return.
Your Banner bearer is very expensive, sure he's got the best baner in the book, but he lacks resilience. Armour of Caledor and Guardian Phoenix will help preserve him better and save you a few points.
Archers need musicians not standards, so a few more points saved there.
thanks! yes you're absolutely right about most things the hole idea with the army is that the enemy shall have problem to choose which unit he shall attack i have no idea if this work or not. the banner is mostly there to make the swordmasters survive but if I split the units the banner will go. yes musicians is better for archers but in many missions it is good to have the banner the horde of White lions is a unit both I and many other have had good use of, and most be the best special choice high elves have to put in hordes
There's not going to be a problem deciding which units to go after. I'm not playing theory-hammer here and telling you what my army looks like and what unit I would use, but you aren't fielding many units at all here.
You have 3 main combat regiments. I play a Warriors of Chaos list that brings 3 to the table, plus a S5 horde in reserve, and I still find myself thinking that I have too few regiments.
At 2500pts, I'd knock your Swordmasters down to regiments of 10-15, and drop their commands, using them as flankers for your Hordes. That, or swap them for White Lions and break your Spearmen down into separate regiments of 20-30 or so.
You don't need a Standard Bearer for your Archers. I would switch your archers to 20 more spearmen, or drop them to up your Spearmen to LSG regiments before splitting them.
The reason I'm hounding you to drop your Spearmen is this: you're T3, S3, and your models are expensive. I've always told people that there is no reason whatsoever to Horde a regiment that costs more than 6pts/model with upgrades applied. For that many points, I could hit you with 28 Khorne Warriors with 2x HWs. I could run them 10 wide, with an incomplete 3rd rank. I'd be putting out 58 attacks. The difference is that I Hit and Wound on 3's, reduce you to a 6+ armor save, while you wound me 5's and I still get a 4+ save. Assuming you don't break when I kill 19 of your Elves against your 6 Warriors, next time I'm still swinging more attacks with my front rank, than you are with your entire regiment, and you lose Steadfast.
That's a very harsh scenario- I don't know many people who use regiments of 28 Warriors, but I'm just trying to point out that even Horded up, Elves are fragile creatures. Believe it or not, you do better against people when you run your Elves in regiments that are just 5 wide, and atleast 4 ranks deep. Why? Because then you output as many if not more attacks than your opponent will.
For 20 Elf spearmen, I can only get 10 Khorne Warriors with extra weapons. Now things look a lot uglier for me. The kill rate drops to 3 vs 8. You're still steadfast your first round, and next turn you're going to cut me down to just my front rank- 2 kills to 6. Your unit lasts for 3 rounds assuming you don't break. That's actually longer than you'd last against a Horde. What's the good news? I don't know anyone who only runs 10 Warriors. So now you've got a points-advantage over my Warriors.
You also have more units on the table, which means more maneuverability, and I have to split my spell casting. I have a spell combo that- if I can cast 2 spells and roll a 3+, will kill your entire regiment in a single turn. No armor, no magic resistance, no rolling a check. You just go down to S0/T0, and die. If I get that spell off once against your current list, I kill a third of your effective fighting forces. If you split those regiment, I don't kill quite as much do I? And trust me- there are unit-killer spells out there, like Dwellers, which everyone has access to.
If you still decide to keep your Spears in a solid regiment, I'd give that L2 a Seerstaff over the Annulian Crystal, so that you can pick Okkam's Mind-Razor as one of your spells, and just go with it. That spell is what takes elf spearmen from a "whatever" unit into a real threat. 50 S8 attacks will evaporate entire enemy regiments, and make your Lions look like babies.
Another thought would be to drop your Archmage for Teclis instead. I know he's cheesy and blah-blah-blah. I'm not telling you to run him, but I'm saying that with an army like this, I'd get used to needing to spam Regrowth pretty heavily.
I think that if you ran with something like 2 regiments of 20-30 Spearmen or LSG, a Horde of White Lions, 10 Swordmasters "naked", and a regiment of PGs with Full Command and a Banner of Arcane Protection to house your casters. Possibly even swap the Eagles for an RBT to pick up the shooting that you've lost from your archers, and give you a High-strength ranged attack to knock down enemy monsters.
wow you really know hove to make someone feel like they just made the worst list in the world... but I have done some changes because the replies and soon I have to change the name :p special characters is forbidden in the tourney so no Teclis, perhaps I spend the last points on an great eagle and changes 2 of them for a bolt thrower please let me know what you think about my changes.
I wouldn't really bother with the eagles. Now that march blocking isn't a sure thing they are not worth the points.
the eagles are there to hunt war machines not march block so i most have at least one of them
Even then 1 poor wee eagle will be lucky to engage a warmachine or distract one long enough to be worth the points.
Just my opinion and experiences though
