Playing in my club's mini tourny i'll be going up against Ogres, Dark Elves and Empire.
Rules are that you have to keep the same list but magic items can be switched between characters and you canchoose new lores each battle.
Talismen of Presevation, Silver Wand 315
G/wep, Armour of Caledor, Guardian Phoenix 168
54 Spears w/Full Command 511
14 Swordmasters, Musician 216
14 Swordmasters, Musician 216
22 Phoenix Guards Full Command, Banner of Sorcery 410
Archmage would go with the Spears and with the BSB, the other mage in with the Phoenix Guard, have thought about taking Banner of Eternal flame instead of a spear.
All comments and critisism welcome
Good luck, All your choices are solid. I would have trouble ensuring that I was fighting the righ enemy with each of my units with so few units, but it does keep things simple.
It might be worth combining the SM into 1 unit and adding in the 2 PG into that horde unit. Your army would be tiny but you could be confident that the SM would be the focus of all your opponents attack, if you could also fit in Skeinsliver to get first turn and use magic to bolster the SM it might work effectively giving you 3 scary looking units although aside from the SM your army is lacking some killing power. As it stands the 2 SM units will be targetted and you can only really protect one of them, that is normally enough though.
Well though i'd share how i fared, and to be honest it went well beat both the D.elves and the Empire general easily, but the ogres impact hitted me into the ground and I ended up getting totally massacred due to not being able to make any rolls against them at all.
The list worked well overall the Spear horde worked out quite well taking charges and attacking with 5 ranks or re-rollable attacks is always good.
Swordmasters smashed face big time against anything they ran into as usual. only game they failed in was against the Ogres they failed two charges, Ogres charged, impact hits wiped one unit out and the second unit got smashed by a ironguts bus that took them out.
Phoenix Guard worked well with their wardsave saving them on more than a few occasions.
Think i'll probally run this list again, but first i'm going to finish work on building a Tiranoc themed list, with plenty of chariots and cav with a couple of big archer units to hold my mages while the rest charged forward to smash face

Congatulations, glad it worked out well for you.
Thanks for letting us know how you got on.
Sounds like you had a great time. I have just one question how did the list cope agents the empire's guns and the dark elves cross bows? The reson I ask is because I am trying to get my list ready for thrown of skulls in march and I like your style of list but I can never imagine a high elves list with out archers or LSG
The Empire player couldn't roll anything but a misfire with his artillery, and he focused on the spears with his missle troops each turn he was killing around 6 a turn with his handgunners due to really bad rolling, but he only got 2 turns of shooting in the end due to me zipping straight forward into combat.
The d.elves player did the same thing of seeing the block of spears and just trying to shoot the heck out of it (the spears only had about half of the unit left by the time they reached combat) this left the S/masters and P/Guard virtually intact and they just chewed throught the rest of his army.
I got the first turn in both games and was helped with my opponents rolling really bad, the archmage in both games took lore of life and I was lucky getting Regrowth and Throne of Vines so the wounds that were caused I usually managed to get around 3 wounds back each magic phase.
All in all with this army it plays a lot more like a WoC army where you move forward fast as possible (marching 10") and try to beat the heck out of the enemy before the rest of their army can reform to attack you.
With our archers if you want them you could swap out some of the spears making them into bunkers for the mages if you wanted but personally I don't like them, unless i'm fighting defensivly and them i'll just take LSG my shooting, at the end of the day S3 bows tend to do little damage
