yeah so basically just fooling around with it and then attempted a magic heavy 1k list if it is possible so yeah
-pure of heart
-jewel of the dusk
silver helms (196)
(mage in this unit)
(mage in this unit)
shadow warriors (75)
repeater bolt thrower (200)
-2 eagle claws
yeah this armys strategy is very tricky, 1st its defensive and offensive which is weird, the silver helms with the mages have to get close but not dangerously close to wreak havoc with their magic, keeping in mind they have to stay away from artillery, then wen the enemy starts its march i have to pull back to my rbts so that theyll dwindle down the enemy ranks and other assorted tasks, shadow warriors will b doin the same and hopefully go for warmachines, ok so im pulling back as the enemy gets close to my silver helm units and let them get in range of my rbts, i unleash all my magic and then charge, may or may not work so give me your ideas, but remember its experimental
Not an assault on a decent list, but why 7 Silver Helms? Why not just 5, one rank? 7 doesn't get you another rank, just a big frontage. Don't get sucked in by Games Workshop's "you MUST buy so many of these because we have this many so there" strategy. How about changing a Mage to a Commander and giving him the Radiant Gem and putting him in a unit of SH? You can give him some Honours as well so he not only beefs up the unit but makes a tempting charge target which fights back. Don't try to put all your magic eggs in one basket as they are prone to falling when hit or dying when the weak unit he's with runs away. Commanders have higher Ld.
Anyway, Leave the magic items out of it and go for raw power with Mages across the board, armed with light items (like Silver Wand) and a variety of spells. Put these guys next to your RBT with SH on their flanks and you get more targets of opportunity.
That might have sounded a bit ambiguous, but you can't vary when playing HE IMO, especially when it comes to magic. Fail a couple of casting/dispel rolls and you're in the brown stuff. Imagine Miscast for a 200 point level 2 Mage? Nightmare.
Incidentally, why 1000 points? Get 2k and make the units modular (ie a block of this for 250 points, a unit of that for 340 points. You know what you have ready that way). The 1k points thing seems to be a US idea. In the UK we play 2k across the board at high-speed (lots of practice!) as 1k is too small for effect. Try 1500. Anything has to be better than 1k, unless someone keeps telling you "go for 1000 points, it's much better" and he keeps winning. He's clearly up to something...
I don't see the point of taking channeler on two mages in 1k with 6 power dice. Not only is 4 dice a good chance to miscast but it will let your opponent know you only have two spells to cast and either save dispel all for one or use a dispel scroll on the big spell your trying to cast. Not to mention you don't even know what spell your going to get so 4 dice could be extreme overkill! If your going to stick with it I would give one of them the staff of solidity which will make you immune to first miscast on that mage. Also if you put them in Reavers they would be alot better as they would be able to get on the flanks and out of danger and still in a good casting spot. With two bolt throwers you will be able to whittle down any enemy unit and then your big unit of silver helms can charge them in there weakend state and overrun through. I think the shadow warriors arn't a great choice for this list since they will do very little damage.
High Elves (BloodBowl)
Warseer Blood Bowl League
May i suggest a new list:
Mage @ 160 Pts
Lvl 2; Ring of Fury.
Mage @ 150 Pts
Lvl 2; Dispell Scroll; Pure of Heart.
5 Silverhelmets @ 170 Pts
First among Equals; Full Command; War banner.
5 Silverhelmets @ 150 Pts
Tiranoc Chariot @ 85 Pts
Tiranoc Chariot @ 85 Pts
2 Repeater bolt Throwers @ 200
Total= 2000 Pts
Casting Pool: 6 + 1 ring
Dispell Pole: 4 + 1 Scroll
You have the same in casting and dispell dice, but you now have a scroll, and the second thing you now a higly mobile army
Let the mages take lore of: Life, Heaven or fire. You still get the +1 to dispell as your mages are still High mages

Hey Beastie, have you been reading my army lists? This is almost exactly what I have selected for my "Army of the West", the Fast Attack one. A perfect mix of "catch me if you can" and "bet you can't survive this lot on the charge", as well as buckets of Mage missiles and dispels. Good against both hard armies like Chaos and numbers like Goblins. Great stuff.
Marijuan, take note of the last entry. It's quite brilliant. It's the closest thing to a "do everything" army (which HE don't have) a HE player could want for those points.
