Hey, this is my 1000 point friendly high elf list. Im a newbie when it comes to warhammer so im posting it to see if anyone has any advice on what i should change. I would really like to get a mage in there but im not sure whats a good mage or what i should take out to make room (in the few games ive played my mages didnt really do much). So if u have any advice or criticism please post. (My friends will be using Lizardmen, Tomb kings and the Empire). Thnx in advance.

There are a couple of things that could be changed to make this list more effective. The first is that you really won't need the command for the Archers. 10 Archers for 120 pts will be more than enough to cause pains for your opponent. You could probably drop the swordmasters in order to purchase a pretty powerful mage hero. Make him Lv 2, give him the Annulian Crystal (the one that gives them +1 extra power dice), Channeller Honours, and Silver Wand and you've got yourself and equivalent to a Level 3 wizard for only 165 pts. At least I think it's 165 pts.
thats odd that the magic users in tomb kings/lizardmen didnt do much, surprises me but then again for the lizardmen depends if he or she decides to go the main blocks of sauri followed by skinks taking the scar vet, depends on what the lizardmen take to be honest but definatly with tomb kings you should get a scroll caddy atleast (so that if he or she decides to rejuvinate their prince despell and demolish)

thx guys. yea thats a good idea about dropping the command group for the archers and i like that mage u made but i think i would give em seer somewheres just so i can get the spells i want, but i really dont wanna give up my sword masters cause they usally do good against some of my friends more stronger units. so when it comes down to it i think i might drop the archers or shadow warriors for the mage. thx fer the help guys. if anyone else has any ideas pleaseee post.

Sorry to pick holes but your Swordmaster group needs a standard bearer to carry a standard, and why have you chosen the banner of sorcery? It only adds power, not dispel dice, adn you have no mage to cast with.
I believe that's a typo, so onto other matters. As said before drop the command from the archers, as that will spare you quite a few points. Use these to build up a couple of your units. I personally would go with this as an alternative list.

Mage Lv1: 135pts
2 Dispel Scrolls
10 Archers: 120pts
16 Spearmen: 206pts
7 Silver Helms: 216pts
5 Shadow Warriors: 75pts
1 Bolt Thrower: 100pts
Total Points: 999pts
This army has a decent magic defence for a 1000pt army, and a commander with a 1+ rerollable armour and a 5+ ward save!! The Silver Helms won't run away easy and the spearmen can protect the archers and bolt thrower.

ahaha yea my bad about the sword masters.i took this list from a previous list and changed some **** but i must of missed the swordmasters. i really like the list except im thinking about taking the champion out of the spearmen and maybe the war banner from the silver helms so i can upgradge the mage to lvl2. the only down fall i see to the list are no sword masters

There's something "not nice" about this commander: Use the great weapon to hit at S6 and blow the awesome elven Initiative, or use a standard weapon for the armour save and lack in the Strength department. Probably swap out the Great weapon for a Halberd; only S5, but at the Commander's Initiative.Originally Posted by gingerninja
