I am new to Warhammer. I have actually never played a game and am going to join a club here. I have taken over a decent size High Elf army from someone and can make a pretty large army. But since I have never played a game I want to first keep it small to better learn the basics. So I would like to give my first stab of a army list for a 1000 point army from the models that are available to me. I would appriciate some input on how it looks.
Here is what is available to me:
Elf Prince on Griffon
10 Archers (with musician)
16 Spear Elves (including full command)
16 Spear Elves (including full command) (unpainted)
10 Dragon Princes (including full command) (5 unpainted)
8 Ellyrian Reavers (including full command)
20 Swordmasters (including full command)
Tiranoc Chariot with Crew
20 Phoenix Guard (including full command)
20 White Lions (including full command)
2 Repeater Bolt Throwers & Crews
Also I want to stick with the painted units if possible.
Commander 93 pts (leads spearmen)
- Dragon armor
- Sword of might
Mage 130 pts
- Magic level 2
10 Archers 126 pts
5 Dragon princes 175 pts
- Standard bearer
20 Swordmasters (290 pts)
- Standard Bearer
Chariot 85 pts
Bolt thrower 100 pts
Total 999 pts.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks and regards
sorry goof, the Commander leads the swordmasters not the non existing spearmen
The swordmasters are an interesting choice. at 1000 points i would personally use spearment over them! the strength 5 is nice but when you have the opportunity of 15 attack(they fight in three ranks) as opposed to five... and dragon princes rock. Maybe give them a banner of sorcery and lose the musician. i'd ven drop the commander and put another mage in! That way you can easily out magic your opponent, which is the high elf strength imo.
Chariots.... hmm a bit pricey. you could almost put in another bolt thrower which might be better if you're still learning to play. :ninja:
try giving your mages seer! then you can be garunteed to pull off CAA.
hope this kinda helps!
