Noob's first shot at a 500 point list, any recommendations greatly appreciated

5 Helms, Full Armor 115
Repeater Bolt Thrower 100
I'm just starting out with Elves here, my opponents will be (possibly) TK, Dark Elves, Tree Huggers.. errr... wood elves.. Plan is to build an army that is functional at 500, but can be easily expanded on... I didn't include any infantry because I just get the feeling that with spear elves being so expensive.. they will likely not pull their weight under such restricted numbers (can't host 20+).
Please note this is built strictly for WHFB at the 500 point level, not a scenario. My Anulii Patrol army comes next
Also: I would normally not mount my commander on an eagle for such a small game, but I am thinking that in the future I would like to use such a commander on an eagle with the bow to give those unarmored wood elves some hell with their own medicine in bigger fights, so I figured this is a good opportunity to test his effectiveness
Negative or positive, thanks for any constructive input guys
Throw an enchanted shield on that commander and he is fantastic.
Looks like a decent list, shoot the hell out of them then use your helms together to smash units. Against TK, use your commander to assassinate the heirophant.
Hehe yeah I was thinking that... Problem is that comes to EXACTLY 500 points... Option B is 1 unit of 5 helms, that same commander with an enchanted shield, and then 16 spearelves with FC to the tune of 499, that might be the better of the two because I have an anvil to absorb the charge, and I have my general and helms as a wicked rear/flanking hammers respectively...
Ah such a flexible army, I love it Thanks for the comment, and yeah man, he'd make quick work of that heirophant mwahaha :ninja:
If you want some infantry, then go for the second option. Spears can work reasonably well with with helms as support. Depends on how you want your list to work.
There shouldn't be anything too heavy in 500 points against the commander, so don't worry about it too much. But in larger games when you use him, enchanted shield is definitely worth it.
i agree. Your commander will dominate the field. Seems a good list. But keep your Commander moving so he can flank charge or go and kill your enemies heroes.
