Our club is holding a 1500pt club challenge and I need help with creating a list (or 2 lists if necessary!).
The most common armies being used are Dwarves. There's also a Khorne Beastman army that gives me trouble.
My problem is that I consistently lose to the Dwarf and Khorne BM players. Typically the Dwarves use at least 2 bolt throwers runed up plus a gyrocopter, along with at least 3 large blocks of infantry and 2 blocks of gunners. I consistenly get trashed by them.
I need help creating a good anti-dwarf list. I have at my disposal: 2 RBT's, 3 mages, 2 commanders, 30 spears, 20 Swordmasters, 22 Silverhelms and 20 archers. I've not got any Eagles but will consider getting some if it'll help.
Thanks in advance...

facing both khrone and dwarves you are probably going to have to invest alot in magic to do anything. So I wouldn't hold my breath there. The eagles would be great against these armies you have a problem with them. You can't march block dwarves and their warmachines are hard to kill by eagles but it should still work. The Gyrocopter is going to be a pain. Best thing to do is big blocks of spearmen and white loins or swordmaster and small units of heavy cav. They can remove the ranks of the dwarves with flank charges.
Then there is an alternative that I personally wouldn't consider but I don't know what kinda of gaming group you are in. It is kinda cheesy at 1500 but you could bring a Araslin on his dragon. Against dwarves it is vunarable to the bolt throwers. But if they take 3 large blocks they probably don't have any other shooting and you can quickly take the warmachines out and then just flame the units to death. I've never played against beastmen but if I'm not mistaken you shouldn't have any trouble there since he's gonna be very low shooting.
So if it's just friendly game play (which is what I would do). Bring a blanced list. 2 units of 10 archers. 1 unit of 15 spearmen, 2 units of 5 silver helms, eagles, 5 ellyrian reavers. And fill in the gaps to your liking.
If it's a must win thing and army comp isn't that important in your group the I would go with this list:
Commander - dragon armor - BSB - reaver bow - pure of heart - 141 points
Asarnil the dragon lord - 460 points
10 archers - 120 points
10 archers - 120 points
15 spearmen - champion - standard bearer - 189 point
5 silver helms - Heavy armor - Shield - 115 points
5 dragon princes - full command - 175 points
5 Ellyrian reavers - 90 points
5 Ellyrian reavers - 90 points
Total 1500 points.
Just have the archers and the reavers take care of the bolt throwers and then take the dragon out of hiding and use it to mob up your opponent. Don't get in into combat. Trust on getting some panic/terror checks (remember the Asarlin is a High Elf and thus his dragon causes panic when ever you cause a casualty with the dragon breath, so just position so you hit as many units without being able to get charged and hope you case something to panic) and then run fleeing troops down with your reavers. But like I said. This could be considered ultra cheesy.
These are the models I have at my disposal:Originally Posted by Ickebeebon

But in a 1500pt game I usually take:
2 RBT's, 16 Silverhelms, 2 mages, 1 commander w/ magic armour on barded steed, and 15 Swordmasters with the Banner of sorcery. I sometimes use a chariot too.
My magic phase is usually strong but his 5 DD often dilute it... THe main problem I get is his gunline and BT's along with his heavy armour and T4 troops!
in that case I suggest MSU with your silver helms supporting a big block of swordmaster and give the swordmasters a commander with sacred incense.
Against the Dwarves since you do not have to worry about his magic you can give one of your mage the Sacred Incense and the other the seer honor. Give the mage with the seer honor Heavens and pick Thunder Bolt with no armor saves to work against his armor and maybe second sign for rerolls. If you don't want the seer honor give him the Jewel of Dusk and with the Banner of Scorcery this gives you 8 too 10 casting dice and you can still trick out our commander the you want.
Good Luck against the stunties.

Dont take too much magic with you. But you can still try adding some. You could get lucky. Use the eagles to swaap around the dwarfen lines and kill the war machine crew. You can use Archers or your RBT to knock down the Gyro. Try and avoid the Ironbreaker unit as much as you can. Use your silverhelms to charge softer CC units like warriors while good blocks of spearmen hold other units like longbeards, hammers or the Ironbreakers (its a good thing to hold them up while the rest of your army takes care of the rest). Use the swordmasters to flank. Do the same with chariots if you are planning on getting those. Keep your BSB near the units that should hold up the elite so they dont break that easily. And oh yeah Shadow Warriors could also add in some annoying firepower for the dwarfen general.
Quickly get to the line. Use Terrain for protection from war machines. Flank as much as possible. Hold up his elite. Isolate the dwarfs so that they cant move that much.
