Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey i wanted to get back to fantasy and i can't remember my exact army i was planning but his is what i remember and sry that thereis no points limit
12 lothern seagaurd
12 lothern seagaurd
16 lothern seagaurd
5 sea rangers
2 bolt throwers
also i am only remembering this offf the top of my head so correct me if i am wrong and if possible tell me what this is close to
ok i made the changes( i found my codex)
this is the new army
3 x Lothern seagaurd 12
2 x searangers
2 repeater bolt throwers
i hope you can give me some advice on how to improve on this army and soon ecase i am going to start buyin soon
eagles and lots of them also mages but i find lsg army to be very restricting points wise cus ur basic guy is like double most other armies
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
i will add more eagles in a 2000pt army and i willl also get mages and a sealord on great eagle with bow of the seafarer(hehehe bolt shot going through flanks)
this is the seaguard list and it's utterly stupid.
Now at the level you are playing you are fine but it won't be much fun since you will lose most of your games. The seaguard are way to expensive. So I don't see a problem in playing that. However once you get to 2000 points it switches the other way. Then you take the sealord and 2 more boltthrowers (since you can't take eagles in a seaguard list). If you are nice to your opponent you take the mweryn instead of 2 more RTB's Yes you read this correctly. This is the only list in which it's considered a favor to your opponent to take a dragon like creature.
Then with the sealord you get the extra round of shooting with no restriction of range and line of sight. If you get lucky you get the first turn and you get to shoot again. This results in 2 rounds of shooting (with in most 2000 point seaguard lists means 24 RTB shots, 70 lsg shots and 15 sea ranger shots per turn) and the first turn everything will be at short range and nothing counts as cover. Hell you can even shoot at a mage inside a stone tower. So before your opponent gets to do anything (except for AS rolls) he has already endured 48 RTB shots, and roughly 170 bow shots and a magic phase. Good chance that the game is over by then.
So the LSG list is bad below 2000 points and broken at or above 2000 points. Just an example of a very poorly playtested list.
Not if played correctly it isn't.Originally Posted by SylvesterAgain I disagree, but you are entitled to your opinion.Originally Posted by Sylvester
Right now to business. This list you are playing is 1250pts I assume as you have written around 1200pts down. This is a well constructed list for this army. The army has a good deal of shooting and with the addition of an eagle, which you can take, for more info read here:
This would give you the following shooting in the pre turn.
46 str3 bows hitting on 3+
2 st6 bolts hitting on 3+ or 12str 4 bolts hitting on 3+
3 str 5 arrows hitting on 1+
This will be bashing most units in the first turn with some harsh casualties and then with the eagles and sea rangers to march block the opponent shouldn't cross the table without serious damage.
Hope this helps :ninja:
New LOChat functions now avaliable.

2) Point 1 really doesn't matter in this list anyway since you don't get a pre turn shooting round. The extra round of shooting will only apply if you have a Sealord in the army (which is a lord which you do not get below 2000 points). This is why I'm saying that the list is bad below 2000 points since all you have now are way overpriced units of LSG and some reangers. Sorry but that just doesn't cut it against most armies. And that is what happens to a LSG list above 2000 points which makes it pretty much broken. It ruins the fun of the game for both you and your opponent if he loses most of his army before his first turn. Gongratulations it will win you the game but can you really still call it a game if all you do is roll dice to have your opponent remove models and then be ready to conceed by the time he starts his first turn.Originally Posted by gingerninja
ok first of alll a lothern army will also have like half as many men as almost any other army and it can work well lower than 2000pt or else they wouldn't let you use one.
try it below 2000 points and you will see what I mean. The LSG list is like all the other SoC lists. They are designed and published with 11 new lists in 1 book and there was hardly any playtesting done on them. All of them are way out of wack. Most are just overpowered and cheesy. The LSG list is different below 2000 points because the only way you can use their benefit (pre turn shooting round) is to take a sealord which you can't do below 2000 points.
Anyway the only list in the SoC book that is halfway decent is the Ardboyz list. The rest is just broken like hell. Just look at the slayer list for example. Or the cult of slaanesh.
Anyway the SoC was a GW sanctioned campaign and probably never saw a battle below 2000 points so how would it have ever been figured out that the list is very weak below 2000. Think about it of all HE lists on the board (other the LSG lists) how many have you ever seen with Lothren Seaguard units in them? They are core and nobody takes em because the are way overpriced is they don't get the preturn shooting.
ya well then sue me for making one becuase it can be just just as competive as any army you just have to be better at useing it that's all
