Hello everyone, I am not exactly a new player to fantasy, ( i've hads them for more than 5 years, however I have not been the most avid of gamers I have not really played more than 5 or 6 games in total with them:lol: ). Currently I have gotten back into the mood for fantasy and I am currently looking at a friendly tournament which will begin in a couple of weeks. Below is my current 1000 pt list. anyt and all feedback is welcome.
Commander 70: + Swordmaster 40, Great Wep 4, Heavy armor 6, Pure of heart 0(He is a work in progress, i cant figure out how i want to field him, I need more help on him than any other thing)
Mage 95: + Extra Level 35, Channeler 10, Silver wand 10, and I am at a tossup between taking the seer ability or taking ring of Khaine both are thirty pts.
20 Spears inc Full command: 250
15 Swordmasters inc Full command: 225
Again a tossup i am looking at either 1 RBT or 2 Great eagles
The Reasoning I have behind this type of army is that with a commander with the killing blow and strength 6, I 7, and WS 6 he can be pretty devastating when faced with man sized opponents whom he can hit on 3's and wound on 2's generally with a -3 to armor saves. This is also my reasoning of taking the Swordmasters because S 5 WS 6 I 5 -2AS troops are a pretty solid force.
The Spearmen were a must considering the three rank fighting rule and their all around better stats than most other core troops in other armies.
The Archers were originally going to be 2 units of ten but then I added a reasonably powerful mage with HIgh Magic in mind.
Now the tough choice for me is deciding on whether to take 2 Great Eagles which when they land within 8 inches of enemy units can slow them down to a crawl, with their extra movement they can servce3 as war machinge killers and mage killers and can even serve as bait for a small Bull formation trap (eagles charge or are charged in the flank allowing the other infantry to Charge in where they would be most effective like a bull with 2 horns...never mind [hard to explain without pictures]). Either these or A RBT. Now I realize that these hefty war machines can be of the greatest importance when dealing with enemy cavalry and even with infantry causing panic etc.
The one real problem I can see with this list is its lack of reall maneauverability and the fact that I really don't have a lot of very useful and helpful Magical items that the High Elves are so famed for using to turn the tide of battle in their favor. Also against another magic heavy army i can see my lack of dispel scrolls could be a big problem. Other than these and a few other minor problems I can think of, i think I have made a list that will work against at least 60% of all the armies out there.
So here is my list and again any and all comments and pointers are welcome. Also if you can think of or see any mistakes which I have made in any aspect of this then please let me know. Also if you can identify any flaws with my choice of troiops etc. .
Thanks in Advance.
I think the great eagles will serve you better as they can set up the charges for your other infantry blocks, amongst other things^_^
If you’re looking to attack and setup charges I agree with the eagles.
I know killing blow is good, but you only have a 5+ armor save on your Commander. If you don't roll a 6 he is in a world of hurt. I would change him to having Armor of the Gods, halberd or great weapon and Amulet of Purifying Flame. With Armor of the Gods he has a 3+ armor save, then with a halberd he is S6 striking in int. order, with a great weapon he is S7 but he does strike last if he is not charging and with the Amulet of Purifying Flame you get some Magic protection for him and the unit he is with.
Also if you are to use High magic I would drop Channler and Silver Wand and take Jewel of Dusk and the Ring of Fury.
I think I would also drop the archers and take a unit of 5 Silver Helms with a musician and use them for counter charging.
Hope this helps and good luck.

With respect to your character: I'd just accept that HE heroes can only kill wimpy things in CC, and use him for his leadership and the potential for a magic bow. Or drop him entirely and field more troops.
I'd say you don't want archers at all in 1000, and probably want eagles. If you don't field the RBT, I would field a commander with reaver bow, as some shooting is good with elves.
Arena of Death Champion: Nexim of the Guldskullz Tribe. Fear my wrath!
if you want to field a commander make sure he is well protected since most poeaple will target him since he is only T3. give him as said AoB and halberd or my personal combo:
sword of might, enchanted shield, HA, guarding phoenix.
3+ armour, 5+ ward and still S 5 in CC
give you're mage the ROF and Jewel of dusk, it is a very good combo (use it myself)
about the forces
spearmen are good, the archers cand do something on this level, but personally i don't like them, then drop the swordmasters, and get several units of silverhelms and chariots.
you need to be mobile and you're army isn't mobile at the moment.
finally get two eagles, they will work wonders
hope it helps
don't include individuel point costs, it will upset teh mods, since it is against the rules
