I'm building this army for a club tournament in July, and I want to have a list which is first and foremost fun to play, and also packs some punch. My biggest uncertainty is magic. I really don't know what to aim for, and if the configurations on the mages are any good.
Ok. I quite this list. It seems it will perform quite well for you. I do have a couple of suggetions/comments:
1) Drop the Talisman of Protection from the Commander. It isn't worth the points for a 6+ save. And change his great weapon for a Halberd
2) Give the Commander the Amulet of Purifying flame instead. It will survive longer with him.
3) Drop the champion from the swordmasters. (That's the option, not the number of troops)
4) Drop the shadow warriors
5) With the spare points get a couple of great eagles. They will serve you well for war machine hunting, and can march block as well.
Hope this helps

I love the list.
The only suggestions I have are. Drop the shadow warriors. Not worth their point.
Drop the banner on the silver helms and prevent giving up a easy 100 VP.
I would also consider droping the bolthrowers for eagles. The eagles can hunt for enemy mages and thus enhance your own magic phase. And they can block other units from charging. The points I would use to beef up the swordmasters to 20 (7X3 with commander) and another chariot.
I agree with most of what has been said - I don't think you have to make the swordmasters that big or 7 wide - they are pretty effective as is. You could add the silver wand to the second mage - that with the combo you already have, makes him a level 3 mage essentially who gets to choose his spells. If you do this, make sure you have the banner of sorcery to make up some extra power dice. Now you have a killer magic phase and some killer attack units.
You may have some trouble with other heavy magic lists - but there shouldn't be too much of that in such a small points tourney.
First off, I just want to say thanks for your suggestions. On the Talisman of Protectoion, that has served me really well before, saving several of my characters. A ward save is a must in my meaning, even such a puny one. As for the shadow warriors, I felt that I needed something to marchblock the enemy. As suggested, I could change my RBTs for Eagles, but that would leave me without any shooting at all. The banner on the Silver Helms are mostly there for the tactical flexibility. With one of my shock troops carrying a banner, I can team them up, should the main blocks be unable to assist them. With our limited supply of CR, that +1 could be a lifesaver. Also, I love the Banner of Ellyrion. It's a steal for 15 points, and makes sure I can challenge those pesky wood elves too with some unhindered movement. I'd personally love to field an even bigger unit of swordmasters, but with them being so unprotected, and already being 300+ ponts, to me that is too great a pointsink. The silver wand sounds lieka nice choice. If the Talisman of Protection goes, that is probably what will replace it.
If you have anymore suggetsions, please, feel free to give them!
