Ok, the majority of my chariots are going to be tiranoc chariots which leaves me with a bunch of lions left over. I also want so dragon princes but dont like the looks of and the cost of the models. Do you think it would be okay to use the plastic lions and converted silver helm riders as dragon princes, or is this too far out?
Its a bit of a stretch, dragon prince don't really associate with lions. And the stats for a lion are quite different to a horse. It would be like using a dwarf as a human. I guess if you could justify it, it could be done.
Have you had a look at the size of a lion? It may be that helms don't fit very well on them either. I imagine lions might be a bit low and wide, but I haven't seen one in person yet.
I would think it would be better to use silver helm horses as well to convert helms to princes, which is what I think I'm going to try to do.
LOL yeah I thought that it might be a bit of a strech. Cold Ones is a good shout, and I could add some wings either from something like peg. knights or green stuff them?
Heh, i like the idea might be abit silly looking having small wings but it was be cool imo.
I had a look on the online site and found some wings that would suit them i think .
And my favourite would have to be theses wings
Cool thanks I will have a look into it!
I say go for it. You can use the heads of the Empire lion knights and Bret transfers (I think they have lions) for the shields. I say make your army look however you want. As long as the base size is the same and you are consistant (you don't have silverhelms on lions in the same game) it doesn't matter. Modelling is half the fun of the hobby. your opponent should be able to figure things out if you're consistant.
I've had an idea for leftover lions that I might just try out. If you want a large unit of white lions (20 or so) then make up a custom base where each side is some multiple of 20mm (so that it ranks up nicely with the troops). If I end up trying this I plan on probably using some combination of a 40 by 40 mm base and 20 by 20 bases with the gaps filled in with greenstuff. You want the base to be large enough for the lion to fit comfortably on it. Then, make the base interesting with some bitz (I would probably have bloody orc parts laying around, savaged by the lion, since those are the main non-elf bitz I have) and put the lion on.
Then stick it in the unit and have it count as however many white lions it has displaced. So if the base is 40 by 60 then it counts as 6 white lions and so on. You can say that as well as using them to pull chariots, the woodsmen of Chrace have decided to bring the lions into battle alongside them. I reckon it should look quite good when you put it in the unit.
In battle, once you've lost enough troops from your unit you wil be able to, next time one dies, remove this lion and put some regular white lions back on the table. (So if it counts as 6, remove it and put 5 regular white lions back on). I don't plan on buying any white lions just yet since there are other units I want to buy first. But when I do get some, I'll probably do this.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

Thats a pretty good idea. And it would save you the cost of buying those extra 6 or so white lion models. You would need to do a little bit of work on the lion, part of the rope for the reigns is attached to it, but it shouldn't be too hard to remove and GS some fur instead.
