Today i was thinking of how good an army of chrace would be and i came up with this idea.To represent silver helms or even dragon princes i would buy a box of silver helms, next i would order 6-8 war lions,6-8 plastic lion cloaks, and the plastic wihite lion heads from the chariot box off of battlewagon bits.Next i will find a way to get the silver helm legs on the war lions and put the silver helms torso+lance and shield arms on the legs.Last ill put the plastic white lion heads and the cloaks on and SSSHHHHHHHHZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMM!Themed cavalry. Also as long as im on the topic of themed armies has anyone tried korhil in a lion chariot.
War lions being ridden seems wrong; they are stregnth five and all that, they are hardly elven steeds. That said I think the old wood elf hunting cats are still available, they are less diferent to big lions, you could consider them white lionesses or somthing.
Up, up and away!
nope- he means guys riding lions.
There's a guy at the shop where I play that is doing the same thing with a commander. I haven't seen it yet, but it should be cool
The trouble I can see though, is that the Lions are going to be a little confusing, since like they said- the lions are tougher and have more attacks.
I say go ahead and do it if you want, it's not like anyone's going to stop you. However, I think it'd be best if your men just rode normal steeds and had some kind of Lion theme to them. White lions are rare, and VERY hard to train. I doubt there would be enough cooperative lions or lion-trainer to outfit a large number of cavalry with lions.
I don't think it would be confusing, since HE cannot take lions as steeds normally. It would be pretty obvious they were using the stats of horses.
Someone at my local GW store is making a full Chrace themed army with lions as steeds as well. I haven't seen it or now how far he's gotten yet, but it sounds pretty cool to me.
you would be better off financially just buying the chariots you need, rather than the bits. The bits are only good if you just need 1-2 things, not 10-15 of something
eh? basic economics says that 2 lions are NOT equal to two lions, two horses, two different sideboards, extra riders peices, chariot yoke and 'wagon' floor etc.
Granted, GW is not known for it's adherence to common sense, but I hold that it would be cheaper to buy the lions as bits instead of buying the whole chariot. The only benefit to buying the whole chariots is that you will get extra WL parts and could sell the Tirannoc chariot to another player and probably get the lions for free/dirt cheap.
Unfortunately, GW doesn't have the bitz for the WLC listed, so i have no idea what they cost.
By the way: the lions and horses are the same size when it comes to riders. They use the same harness on the yoke, so I'm pretty sure that somewhere on the lion there is a space as wide as the horse. You might need to trim the manes though...
In other words, BWBITS is not what it used to be since changing management, but is still the best option when looking for 1-2 particular common parts or bits.
Oh, sorry then- i didn't catch the part about BW. I usually just order my stuff from GW whenever I can. For some reason or other, i feel like a traitor when i use 3rd party companies.
just another oops for Book of Oopses
