I've played a lot of games against dwarves, chaos, empire, and a few against wood elves, but I've never played against lizardmen. I have an upcoming game with a very new player. I believe that he has only fielded his army about six or seven times. I am aware that he puts alot of faith in the carnosaur. I'm pretty sure that he also has a lot of love for his mobile "organ guns", as I like to call it.
My question is this. What are the strengths and weaknesses that I need to look for and exploit from the lizardmen, as this is the new version of the HE with the ASF rule? After checking the forums, actual tactics still seem to relate to the previous rule set of the high elves, where movement of my troops played into who actually attacked first. And the magic phase, where I assume I could benefit greatly from fielding some mages, would I do Warhammer justice and come out there with all high magic? Or should I also bring in some Lore of Light as well? I was thinking of putting the Ring of Fury on a Noble so he would have a bound spell on him as well.
Just wanted to get an idea of what I needed to look for so any suggestions would be appreciated. And we are aiming for a 2000 pt battle. Our terrain will be random as we are playing out of the Lustria rule set for an ongoing campaign at our local gameshop. And I will not have too many limitations on what models to field as I have a bit of everything and we can proxy if need be.
What I would do is take an archmage with Book if Hoeth, making irresitable Force more possible. It is expensive points wise and difficult, but it is possible to out magic a Lizardman army. Bound spells are good way to go as well. The best way to get rid of slaan is to cast pit of shades on the Slaan. I dont have any expierience with armies not fielding Slaan so This is really all I can help with
