Good morning to all,
I would like to know if a Noble, with the Radiant Gem of Heoth, is worth the points?
Am I better off taking a level 1 Mage?
Since the RGoH, has a character "count as " a level 1 Mage, does this mean he produces power/dispel dice in the same manner as a level 1 Mage?
Thank you, in advance, for your time.
I would say it is worth it, especially if you want to free up hero slots for a Star Dragon or something similar.
It also confers the extra power dice and dispel dice...

as with anything, it depends on which opponents you'll be facing, what the rest of your army looks like and what point level you're playing. I know lots of guys that play a bsb with no protection on him other than the 2+AS and the 3 grt wpn attacks he gets. For me, that's too risky (because I roll terrible on dice and there are a lot of killing blow guys out there). I prefer for my expensive characters to be a little more expensive and have lots of saves.
I almost always run a prince with the RGofH in my 2250 battles. A prince has more magic item room, so I can get him a good armor save, a ward save if I want, make him a level 1 (yes he gets +1 PD and DD in the magic phase, knows 1 spell, and gets +1 to dispel rolls) which helps my magic phase against magic heavy armies.
