I want to make a magic heavier list and includ a archmage, mage and a dragon mage. Want to know what you all think of a silver wand on the dragon mage. I am thinking because you get the extra dice to cast a spell the you get more value out of it by having an extra spell to try and cast.
And is the book of hoeth on a archmage worth it you reckon, im thinking jewel of dusk and 4 dispell scrolls to shove in the enemys face.

Personally I like the Staff of Solidity on the DM. It's such an expensive character to risk losing if you are unlucky with the dice. True, you only know 2 spells, but they are going to be nasty damaging spells no matter what.
However, I think this also depends on how big your army is. You are obviously playing 2,000+ pts if you are including an Archmage. The more points you have, the less of a problem it is to lose your DM to a miscast. I guess I'm used to played games at like 1,500 where the DM is like a third of my entire army.

I've done a sliver wand on a DM, and it worked well, just remember your a oppeant will most likely have dispell scrolls as well and the chance of miscast (which i have done a few times). As for the book of Hoeth, it depends on what you want him to do. If you want the archmages spells to go off, then yea the book will be great (but if he casts irresiably it means your other mages will have more scrolls and dice to face), if you want a spell for every occossian give the silver wand to the archmage. well hope that helped
My typical Dragon Mage looks like this:
Lvl2 DMage w/ Silver Wand, Ring of Fury
Alternatively, I try to defend the bugger (almost impossible) and go for a
Lvl2 DMage w/ Silver Wand, Gaurdian Phoenix
I much prefer the first option, because you can count on him to generate 5 dice plus a bound, if you are spamming with low-value spells. Thats 2dice/spell.
I have learned that with the prices we pay for our mages, we are better at focusing on either stopping incoming magic, or over loading on outgoing magic. We can get a +1 to dispell, but we've got all sorts of nasty bits for stopping the magic that we're up against. Or, we have the DMage and all manner of other nasties to make sure that our spells get through. With the DMage and the Book of Hoeth, I'd stay away from the defensive end of the spectrum, and make the most of your magic by blazing away at the enemy until they run out of dice and fold.
I'd go with
Lvl4 Archmage w/ Book of Hoeth
Lvl2 DMage w/ Silver Wand, and Ring of Fury
Lvl2 Mage w/ Jewel of Dusk OR Starwood Staff
Elite Unit w/ Banner of Sorcery
Remember though, that the book of Hoeth can be a liability. If you use the dice and manage to get an Irresistable Force, your opponent just holds onto their dice and doesn't try to dispell it. If you give your Lvl4 the Starwood Staff instead, you'll have a better chance at casting with very high numbers, but your opponent will still waste their dice trying to dispell it.
It also frees up your lvl2 to carry the Jewel of Dusk. That, combined with your Banner, will give you a massive stack of 8dice+1JoD+3reckless+1bound+D3 = ~15dice +1 to cast
I agree with Captainsarthai
I would say the DM gets the Silver Wand and neither one of the bound rings.
But then the Archmage takes the Seer Staff (picks spells to use) and as many scrolls you want or ward save and scrolls.
Then Jewel of Dusk on the last mage and another scroll on the last mage.
