So, how would the cloak work vs. a Dwarf unit with the rune, or indeed any dwarf unit immune to psychology for some reason?
Would they ignore the 'dwarves hate and fear the user' effect? Unless of course for a round the cloak negated the item with the rune of stoicism? Or would the cloak work regardless? Also, would the hate effect persist past the first round of combat as with Nagarythe hatred vs. Dark elves?
Immune to psychology would cancel out the psycholgical effects of the cloak (no hatred or fear), the cloak of beards used to nullify a random runic item in base to base contact as well but I don't think it does that any more.
The hatred is just regular hatred so would only affect the first round of combat.
Hmm, it's one of those odd ones. 'Dwarfs both hate and fear the wearer of the cloak' - doesn't really specify any exceptions, but I guess that usual exceptions apply?
The random runic item nullification is still there, 'for the duration of each close combat phase', I guess randomly determined each phase.
as long as the rune is working they are immune to the fear and hate effects of the cloak. and as for lasting more the one round of combat the hate imbuned by the cloak would only work the first round since it doesn't (to the best of my knownage) specify that it would contiue you into subsiquent rounds of CC
First, the rune of stoicism doesn't make dwarves immune to psychology. It makes them count as double their unit strength. Maybe the rune you're thinking of is the rune of courage.
Second, and more importantly, this would only negate the fear effect. The Dwarves would still have hatred towards the elf. If you run up against that, the dwarf player has completely turned the tables on your little cloak.
No, I don't have any wool.
Apologies - yes, wrong rune.
As for Hatred - it's listed under psychology in the rulebook, is it not? Fear, Terror, Hatred, Frenzy, Stupidity... all would be ignored by a unit immune to psychology?
Pg53, first column, second paragraph under the section 'Immune to Psychology'.
"Troops that are ItP (...) automatically pass all their Panic, Fear and Terror tests, and are not automatically broken if defeated in combat by Fear-causing enemies..."
The bits that have been skipped have been denoted (if you don't believe me, you can just go read it for yourself anyway). From that, we can deduce that the suchlike of Frenzy, Hatred, Stupidity etc aren't cancelled by being ItP. In 6th Ed, that used to be different, but it's been changed now to make it that much more interesting.
