okay i have a 1500 point army vs my bros 1500 warriors of choas and i wanna know how im suppse to beat him beacuse it seems half his units cant break and the others have some impossibly high armour save...i mean im trying using a unit of 20 swordmasters against them with the shield of saphery everytime that he doenst dispell it and its not working his nurgle chosen with a banner that gives them permanent rage means they cant break and i cant hit them...we dont play 6 turn battles so its more of a matter of last man standing which i fail at against his warriors with hand wep adn shields the best the sword amsters can do is make it a +4 which when im losing my armours save almost completely means 7 of mine dead to 2 of his and thus i end up in flight and even if they stay they are butchered
someone HELP me
if i need to give you guys an army list to help just say but if there is a generic way save me the time of typing out his horrible list (which i point out isnt his planned list its teh list he plays coz he aint got the stuff he needs for the 1 he wants)
The army lists would be useful, especially his. I have... Suspicions... about his use of the rules.
okay he is using:
20 mauraders mark of slanesh and GWs
11 chaos warriors (no mark) full command handweps and shield
12 chosen nurgle halbladers and full command (banner of rage i think)
5 knights enscrolled swords command (without musician)
mage lvl 2 with these things that give it more spells and a power familier
exhalted champion nurgle ...in teh unit of warriors giving them the nurgle benifit in combat
i think thats it...i feel lucky that tis not his planned group coz his planned 1 sounds a hell of a lot worse =[
For those annoying frenzied/rage/fear/terror causing units - take a standard of balance and a BSB with great weapon - mix them in with some swordmasters or white lions. It completely negates psychology, so you simply have to get as many strike first, high S, high WS attacks in on them as you can, and hope you win on resolution.
Perhaps go with 10-man swordmaster squads so that you don't lose as much if you do break (you get just as many attacks in either way) and go with 7 man frontage on the first rank.
For those units with big nasty armour saves, first port of call would be some bolt throwers - second would be some DPs with a noble w/star lance - just plow in and hope your noble knocks out 1-2 bodies, and the other guys clear up the rest.
The other alternative against high armour save troops is to take some magic, go with lore of metal. Transmutation of lead and Rule of Burning iron are pretty handy.
unfortuanately im limited by what i actually own aswell =[
the army im using atm is :
Dragon mage lvl2, silver wand
pheonix guard 20 FC (actually spearmen but he lets me off)
Swordmasters 20 FC
bolt throwers 2
thats my army and all i have left over is
6 archers FC
5 sword masters
8 silver helms FC
2 mages (1 on horse)
1 both thrower (already maxed my rare so no point mentioning)
thats all i have so as much as i want DPs i dont ahve them, i can do the banner with my present army if i drop my FCs, but no nobles =[ and the magic sounds a good suggestion =]
if u got army list suggestions and how i should use them then that would ROCK =]
thx for advice so far
The Banner in Question is the Banner of Rage. It gives then Frenzy that can never be lost. So no they wont be taking panic tests for loosing models from shooting or magic.
However, if you do beat them in combat then they still take break tests just like everyone else!!!
The Mark of Nurgle Means you get -1 to hit with shooting and -1 weapon skill in combat. So you should still be hitting him on 4's so i'm not sure why you aren't hitting him!!!!
Play 6 turns! thats the rules!!! you must be spending hours on your games lol..
As for that frenzied unit, Move your silver helms into his charge range and he HAS to declare a charge against you. Then Flee and then keep doing it, you'll leed his unit around the board and hopefully it will never get into combat! It would be better if you had a unit of those Fast Cavalry. But with what you have
Hope this helps!!!
PS: Chaos!!! Rarghhhhhhhh!!
i thought frenzy ment if they lost combat they didnt flee but they did lose frenzy hwoever the never losing frenzy ment that this never happens
and yes hours
but yh he is passionatly defending the idea of permanent f4renzy and unbreakability ...can u explain?
Get him to read through the Frenzy rules.
the frenzy rules say "frenzied units are immune to psychology as long as they are frenzied as long as they are frenzied"
that means they cant FLEE surely?
and the banenr says that the unit cannot lose frenzy so surely these 2 combined means un breakable things
god im sounding like a total noob right now arenty i XD
oh wait never mind...immune to psychology wasnt understood XD
anyway so back to suggestions on what i need to kick there ass =]
