i want to get into fantasy my friends play but i have no idea what army to chose or anything about the armies but i played one small game and lost by mistake
Well if you tell us more about what you're looking for we can help you find the army that's right for you. What kind of playstyle do you want? Fast? Shooty? Magic? Horde? Elite? Monsters? etc.
Are there any armies that you feel drawn to more than the others?
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

If you're close to a GW shop, hobby center or something like that I'm sure they have a copy of all the current Army Books. My advice is to drop by and tak some time reading the fluff and looking at the pictures as this will give you either great ideas or sudden need to paint that specific model.
5000p. High Elves
i like arimes that are balanced like can shoot and charge if i have to but i have thought about high elves
Several armies could be balanced between ranged (magic/shooting) and combat. So here we go with the run down of "closest" fits.
High Elves- excel equally in combat and magic, and have moderate ability to shoot with RBTs.
Dwarves- excel equally in defenseive combat, and ranged combat. No magic casting at all
Empire- the "average" across the board. They can do all of it well, but none of it perfectly
Tomb Kings- moderate stats across the line, not as effective as empire, but they can revive.
Dark Elves- great close range shooting, lethal magic, good in hand to hand, great all around.
