I wanted to make a saphery themed list. 1 Archmage, 2 lvl 2's , 2 unit of sword masters are mandatory for me. I was wondering how you all would fill this list out. There are a ton of different options and I kind of wondering what your first thoughts are. I will be trying to find a balance of fluffyness and competitiveness.
I first thought of a shooty army with archers/rbt's and curse of arrow attraction. Then counter charging with sword masters when they come for my line.
I just want peoples thoughts on what would go well with this force.
Phoenix Guard or White Lions:
- You'll need one of these two units to act as anvil. Spear man or big blocks of Sword Masters don't perform well; spear man get mowed down in combat while Sword Masters get shot. Sword Masters work great while being in small teams, they are easier to hide and don't cost that much, still I feel one medium-big unit should be included to go with your fluff (10+).
Magic vs. combat:
- I think it would be good idea to include battle standard bearer instead of a Mage, especially, if you decide to include White Lions. You can give your BSB Radiant Gem of Hoeth for some hocus-pocus or the White Sword and Gem of Courage. I feel both combos would go well with your theme.
Hint: If you can, mount your BSB, he/she will last longer.
Some sort of distraction is always welcomed.
This above all; to thine own self be true.
