Hi there everybody, was hoping for some help.
Am planning the final purchase for my High Elf army to bring it up to 1500pts. This is what i have so far...
Mage (who will carry the silver wand and ring of fury)
21 x Spearmen
10 x Lothern seaguard
2 x Tiranoc chariots
2 units of 5 x shadow warriors
1 x Repeater Bolt Thrower
1 x Eagle
this leaves me with enough points for a unit of 14 (with full command plus banner of sorcery) of either White Lions, Swordmasters or Phoenix guard. The trouble is I am unsure what to choose - with my reasoning as follows:
White Lions: adds manuverability, survivability and hitting power but ugly models
Swordmasters: very killy, easy to kill, nice models but considered cheesy
Phoenix Guard: my favourite models, durable and fits with Caradryan but lack punch.
Therefore i am asking for the opinion of all the experts out there which to choose - based on the strengths/weaknesses of the rest of the list chosen - as i cannot decide!
Thanks in advance
You're taking 2 units of Shadow Warriors?
My advice would be to ditch one of these, if not both, get yourself some White Lions and/or Sword Masters to replace them (get enough of each so that you have two units worth of both and can then swap about depending on what army you're facing), then get a unit of Phoenix Guard as the mage bunker unit.

yeah - i play against a lot of dark elves, plus i like the models!
In my opinion, you lack a bit of hard hitting distance. If I were you, using so many Shadow Warriors could let you drop the Eagle and replace it with a Bolt Thrower.
Anyways, to stick to your question:
If you like PG the most, then go for PG
Caradryan in them will add some of the combat abilities the unit lacks: assuming a 5x3 formation (Caradryan included) you would get 3 S5 attacks+ 5 S4 attacks, which doesn't sound too bad to me.
They're durable enough to bear such a worthy standard without risks.
They kick ass =P ASF S6 attacks and stubbon so they can be the anchaor in ur battleline. And the advartanges of haveing a 3+ save against shooting =D
The only problem with PG is that they are only S4 the 4+ ward is nice but ur lacking the stubboness of pheonix guard means they will flee more because nowadays with chaos warriors (woo) and lizardman S4 not gonna do a lot
Nights Justice Space Marines
Eldar Eth Kariel Craftworld
Spear of Kurnous - High Elf Expeditionary Army
Caradryan's special abilities really compliment the SwordMasters well, so that would be my choice. You only EVER need 12 (maximum) though.
If you're worried about being considered cheesy... you're taking Caradryan... (love him)
