A friend of mine gave me a Griffon model without any rider on it. The model is from some other game but looks really good. Only problem is that its positioned in a way that putting a rider on it will take a lot of work.
So before starting this converting project I was just wondering if any of you play with the Griffon?
I mean it cost little less than a sundragon. I feel that if you gonna play a big monster you might as well invest in a bigger dragon, right?
Only advantage I can see picking a griffon over the dragon is that it dosent take up one additional hero slot as the dragons.
What do you guys think about the griffon?
"The nature of Mon Keigh was irrepressible!"
I would highly recommend that you don't play with a griffon as it will most likely be a bad experience. A great eagle mount maybe but a griffon is so terrible. The main problem is it makes you a large target, but has no benefits of a standard dragon (str, WS, armor, T)
In other words, it can't really fight, it usually gets you shot to death, it has no protection and has a huge price tag compared to the great eagle, which gets you all of those things for 1/4 the cost.
Only time it's worth considering taking a Griffon is if you're fielding Eltharion where you get a 5+ ward save a long as Eltharion is alive.
