Which one takes priority?
Do High Elves still strike first?
Or do Great Weapons make them slow down?
Please also put a page # for the page in the rulebook that proves this, I need to prove it to my friend.
Page 43 of the High Elves Army Book:-
"All high elves have the special rule 'Always Strikes First', regardless of the weapon they are wielding...."
That's right, and if there is any dispute still, check the Errata on the official GW site. It explains further.
5000p. High Elves
Indeed - ASF rule negates ANY bonuses or penalties for charging and weaponry etc - it becomes a pure Initiative comparator. I don;t think this is right TBH (the interpretation is silly in my opinion) - ASF should form a new tier in initiative hierarcy:
1) Impact Hits
2) ASF chargers
3) ASF Initiative, normal weapons
4) ASF Initiative, Great Weapons
5) Normal chargers
Would make it MUCh easier to understand and rationalise, and means that there is still a point in getting the charge with GW wielders against other ASF foes...

"Q. When two models with the Always Strikes First
(ASF) rule are in combat, and one is equipped with
a Great Weapon, does the model equipped with the
Great Weapon strike last? For example, if a High
Elf model with an Initiative value of 6 and
equipped with a Great Weapon is fighting against
an enemy model with the ASF rule, an Initiative of
4, and a hand weapon, who strikes first in the
A. When two models with the ASF rule are
fighting, they will strike in descending
Initiative order, rolling a dice in case of same
Initiative. All other factors, such as charging,
great weapons, etc., are ignored, because they
have already been bypassed by the ASF rule."
